wow, i went clueless about updating my XEDE and got my maps installed and updated to V3 etc, with no problems.. I dont really understand what could be much harder with installing a WBo2, and a knock box. Maybe I just got lucky?

You have done the easy stuff. The problem people are having is taking the log data and making use of it. XMap needs to be able to take the data and give it out to the user in something that the user will understand.

I still have not installed my SMART system yet. And I am not going to, until the software and directions are finalized. Right now, it seems like we are all beta testers when it comes to tuning w/ it. Of course, SMART is ready to go and can be easily installed and ran for people w/ custom maps or the off the shelf maps.

I agree with 93civEJ1. I have had a XEDE for awhile now and updating firmware is easy. I don't understand why so many are having problems updating the firmware. You have to remember we used to have to send in our XEDE's to be upgraded and then us (the consumers) asked if we could update it ourselves and VISHNU gave it to us. Were there problems? yes at the beginning, but I'm still confused why so many of you are having problems just with updating the firmware.

I don't have SMART yet, but will be ordering it once I get another evo, and I don't see how it will be that difficult to install. Their instructions are pretty well written already.

Now the logs are a bit confusing to understand, but I know dataloglab has been working with Dustin and I have also been beta testing XEDE graphs for dataloglab that will make the logs a bit easier to use and understand what each column actually is. I do agree the logs could be revamped and easier to understand, but I'm sure that is in the works as we speak.

As for Shiv's business... It's his business and he can run it however the hell he wants. I don't think he would of shipped out a product that he didn't trust or hasn't tested before. Every product has its problems in the beginning. Was windows XP secure and safe when it first came out? HELL NO! But there were revisions done and upgrades that were later introduced and then implemented into newer copys of the OS. All I'm saying is with every product there are ALWAYS going to be problems in the beginning, just takes a bit of time to iron out the wrinkles.

i dont think installing the firmware is the biggest problem people are having with SMART

setting the system up is the easiest part...but there are SOOOO many promised functions that this new technology can perform...yet nobody really knows how to take advantage of it all...not only that, but a lot of people (including me) are having trouble just understanding the BASIC functions of SMART...much less the more advanced

hopefully, with time, we will all understand how to operate the software to its fullest potential...i think dude was just trying to make some suggestions on how to achieve that

I've updated the firmware in my own Xede probably 5 or 6 times before the newest revision and I have NEVER had a single problem until I tried to do the latest one which took 30 min of screwing with to make the process work.

I talked to Shiv a little bit earlier today, he is working on a COMPLETE write up of what the SMART does and how to use/manipulate it. He even admitted to releasing it without enough information to go with it, so he is working on that. Just be patient!

Thats odd because mine worked the first time. I even used Xmap to update my firmware which I know a lot of people are having problems using. I would of used XUpdate, but why be limited to one COM port when Xmap you can choose.

How's this for starters:

http://www.vishnutuning.com/secret/S...20Tutorial.doc

There's a lot more info we can put in there. Didn't want to dump it all on you guys at once. But i'm going to start another thread. Please direct any questions you may have in that thread and that thread alone so we can answer them quickly and clearly as possible.

Sorry for the last few days of confusion guys

Regards,
shiv
