California Race Gas
Since Vishnu and Tuning Technologies tuned my car for VP 109 earlier this summer, I've been jonesin' for a hit of the stuff but have had trouble locating some of it until today.
I've been looking for places in So Cal - LA, Orange, Ventura county, since it's a long way to TT.
GT40 told me about a place near LAX that carries a fuels made by F and L. Up until now, I thought VP was the only race fuel out there.
F and L makes a 105 unleaded (R+m/2) which turns out to be the exact same formulation as the VP 109 (research octane) - and I verified it through a cardlock fuel retailer and even the a VP Rep.
They say the different octane number each company uses has to do with which type of octane they select in their marketing - Motor Octane, R+m/2, or research octane.
Both F and L and VP have the same of each;
Motor Octane - 101
R+m/2 - 105
Research octane - 109
For reference c-16 has a Motor Octane - 117
Vp performance aka "100 octane" octane has a
motor octane of 99
R+m/2 of 101
Research octane 100
I pick up about 35 whp over the VP100 on the VP109 but it feels like a lot more.
Anyway here is a the distributor list for F and L for those of you who got that tune from tt or Vishnu or will be getting one:
http://www.fandl.com/dist.htm
I think it would be great to get as comprehensive of a list as possible, so anyone with knowledge of where VP sells their 109, please post up - and feel free to opine on fuels. I'm very curious about the different attributes and benefits.

Hey Alex,
I guess the F and L web site isn't as comprehensive as I thought. It's the 76 station at the top of the hill on Lincoln by Loyola Marymount, about a mile south of Jefferson. They've got all kinds of fuels.

The sites don't show these fuels.

No way in hell Ill chance switching fuels on that tune........We did tons of research before we became distributors for any kind of race fuels. We tested MANY of them. VP won hands down.
It may be the same numbers but not the same exact fuel. Best bet is to get tuned on that fuel poolboy.
As far as price increases.....prices just went up on VP 2 days ago......single digit percent increase. NICE!!

That's where I always buy my race gas.
