P0171 Lean Code NO MATTER WHAT I DO!
P0171 Lean Code NO MATTER WHAT I DO!
i keep getting a lean code no matter what i do with the tuning. i have a WB on the car and the only time it shows lean is when the car is cold at idle. it has not effected the performance of the car, but it is annoying and i would like any help i can get to resolve this...
here are my mods:
Vishnu XEDE - XFLASH
Vishnu turboback exhaust
HKS 264/272 Cams
Buschur Upper intercooler piping (with stock airbox K&N drop-in filter)
Buschur Mini Battery
Walbro Fuel Pump and 660 Injectors

You can fix this by adding a positive fuel offset (positive number) in those particular cells in the fuel table. You will need some sort of OBD-II reader to read short-term fuel corrections though.... it's an unusual problem to have but i have seen it before.

I've also seen this. I also have cams.
I've notice I get it if I idle too long, 8+ min. Usually does it when I warm up the car when it's cold out.
Doesn't happen very often. But I think it's a combination of increased duration of the cams and being in open loop at cold start.
MAS see's increased air coming in and extends the duration of the injector + being in open loop throws off the fuel trim. ECU tries to compensate but to much so it triggers the light.

shiv,
i figured out a couple of things that i wanted to share because i have been playing with the cam gear settings just to see what happens:
1. i have 264/272 cams, and with the gears set at -3/-1 along with adding a little fuel the lean code went away on its own...car runs great except does not have the top end that it did with the cams set to -2/-2
2. with the cams set at -2/-2, it does not matter how much fuel i add, it does nothing, and i have figured out the reason...but here is one more peice of information that will make a difference, i have a 1G recirculated BOV...at that cam setting, at idle there is not enough vaccuum for the BOV to operate correctly, therefore the idle is rough and it surges and stumbles at low RPM's...
so here is the question, what can i do with the cams to help remedy this problem, but not lose the top end?
