Boost between shifts?

When shifting my car into 4 gear under WOT I only see about 20 lbs boost maybe a little bit more. But when just being in 4 gear and hitting gas I get about 22lbs. My question is when I am going through the gears, should I be seeing more boost when shifting into 4 gear?
I think this my tie into me getting only 106 traps in the 1/4 mile. Any suggestions would be great.

Boost is RPM/load dependent, if you floor it in 4th at say 4k RPM you will probably see a higher number in fourth than if you were shifting up through the gears at or near redline. Does that help?

What kind of boost controller are you running with? If it's MBC then you are limited in the things to fix the problem. If it's electronic, then you might be able to fix the problem with 4th gear at WOT.

The reason I ask, I have the AVC-R and I can do gear specific boost and mine holds at every gear.

That sound right. By the way I am the Xede to control the boost. Just wanted to know should I be seeing more 20lbs after my shift to 4 gear.

holding 20 lbs between shifts is pretty damn good ... i take it you are using the NLS right?? there might be an issue there cuz holding 20 lbs of boost with stage 1++ should net you 114mph at least.

The EVO has boost taper at your level of mods. The higher the rpm, the lower the boost. When shifting from 3rd gear at redline into 4th, your at a much higher rpm, than just punching in 4th from say 3000 rpm. Max boost (22 psi) will occur low in the rpm range, and it will taper down to lower boost towards redline.

I think I am giving people the wrong impression here. I am not talking about between the shifts, but after the shift I see 20lbs. I am not using NLS. Thanks for your explanation guys, its helpful. I knew the fact that just punching in fourth and shifting into fourth would yield more boost due to the load, but I just wanted to see if AFTER the shift to see 20lbs at max is fine, thats all.
