Stock Injector Limits

Is anyone following this thread?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=172107

A couple guys are saying their injectors are running over 80% duty cycle (more like (99%) at the 320 - 360 whp range. Another vendor chimed in stating they've seen stock injectors maxed out at 280 whp on their dyno and recommend injectors when you step up to cams.

I know Vishnu was one of the first to recommend upgraded fuel pumps due to stock pump issues, but what's the thought on injectors?

Upgrade them when you upgrade your turbo. Until then, I've yet to see an injector go static.

Does a TME qualify as an upgraded turbo with respect to up sizing the injectors?

If you do upgrade injectors when doing a cam swap, other than maybe wasting your money, does it hurt performance?

I still have the stock injectors with my mods, AND the TME! No need yet!

I dont know if it will hurt it, the fuel pump will pump only what the ECU says, you will just use LESS of the injector duty cycle. dont waste the money!my 2c

Larger injectors wont hurt. Although emissions and drivability may suffer slightly (may not be noticeable).

It sure can. But you need to feed PWM0in with a an injector signal. Any clyinder will do. Just tap into one and feed it into PWM0in

I'm guessing he means it would be nice if Vishnu would develop their software to compute IDC right out of the box. If its as easy as tapping another ECU wire that is.

Yep, it will read duty cycle % as is. Just monitor PWM0in in the bar graph screen

Slightly larger injectors won't hurt. However, IMO, take the occasional starting issues of the V3 firmware combined with my 780cc injectors and it makes for some very painful restarts at times. Basically if I don't get the car to start on the first try, it almost seems that the engine gets flooded and I end up having to try 10+ times to get the car started.

FWIW, my starts are much cleaner on the latest v3.2 firmware. I'm running Denso 720cc's as well (Xflash scaling).
