so once again how do you differentiate between the three?

fuel cut: loud bang or firecracker noise
boost cut: (insert here)
detonation: (insert here)

if you dont know these things, you absolutly should not be messing with an mbc..... imo 24-25 is way to high on stock turbo. tell me your running larger injectors right?

By the way, 1.5 bar is not 24psi... Isn't that more like 21-22?

91 gas can detonate even on 19 psi with stock ECU. lower your boost!

BoostCut feels exactly the same as FuelCut.
Detonation sometime could be felt but most of the time not. The only sure way to find out is to pull the head to look at it and the piston.
Turn the boost DOWN! you are gonna blow that $h!t up with 91 octane at that boost level.

Ok, Evos have a safty feature that when they are cold you can't run high boost or you do exactly what you said. I've done it a couple of times and it's boost cut. If it does it when you are hot, then you are running to much boost. Turn your boost down to 1.45 (I'm assuming you have the AVC-R) if not just turn it down to where you are running 21 psi on your gauge, just to safe. The code you are throwing is the Extreme Boost Condition code. I had mine checked at AutoZone for free. You can run 21 psi on 91oct. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't. But you should get a tune as soon as possible. Just to safe. My .02

from what i understand, detonation cant really be heard as much as it can be felt by a trained tuner.

guys, I'm only at 1.5 Bar which means 22 psi. Stock turbo can't take it? BTW, BEFORE the MBC was even installed, I had my DEFI gauge read out 1.5 Bar consistently. More confusion....

I am not a pro but still don't think 91octane could support 22 PSI safely.
What do you professional tuners thinks?

If your car feels like it hit rev limiter and just shuts down for a second that is either an overboost condition or maf cut. The only way to fix this without a flash is to turn the boost down. The MAF readings indicate there is more than the normal amount of air flow and for safety's sake it cuts fuel. I get that all the time during the winter when airflow goes up.

Detonation.....you aren't gonna hear it and odds are you wont feel it either. But if you purchases a pocketlogger of some kind you could watch your overal engine timing. Engine timing should look something like this 16-17-18-19-20 and not this 16-17-18-16-16-17. If you see the ECU pulling timing then a knock event has occured.

So....get a pocketlogger and keep the boost down to 22psi.
