Um, I wasn't comparing anything. The point of this Dyno Testing Team is to just dyno road tuned cars to see the power they're making, right? These are just examples of road tuned cars that happened to be on the same page as some dyno tuned cars.

If you want to compare, though, I don't see how you can point to HFCs as being a problem. The top X-flash car just says TBE, AND it has a 6.5 TME. It's 274/242 is below the road tuned stock turbo'd Dynoflash Evo with 276/260. Those are peak numbers, yes, but if you look at the curves, the Dynoflash curve is higher the whole way by a little - at the very least, it's nothing like the difference we saw in the big thread where the Vishnu tune gave 30-40 more whp through the powerband despite similar peak numbers.

Even the Works car on top of the cammed/stock turbo list only had 3 more whp, but far less wtq (-24) despite having a cutout, large cams, o2 housing and Works aperture. The next closest X-flash was a cammed Evo with only 252/233. It doesn't say if it has a HFC or not, but it has a dp/cbe. If we assume it has a HFC, then even with a test pipe, it would fall short of the aforementioned Evos. It wouldn't gain 24whp/27wtq from that...

I'm not too concerned with the individual comparisons and arguing about specific parts. I'm only showing that the road tuned Dynoflash Evos are VERY comparable to the dyno-tuned cars. Then, of course, you have the 3037 that made way more power than anyone else by far, including the Works-tuned 3071, although that one was probably on pump gas.

I did not say funny - I said odd - but i was joking of course

Just making the point that the cars I have tuned out there have consistantly fared very very well on the various dyno days that have occured.

This despite the fact that the cars I tuned were set he up to maximize margin of saftey and smoothness on the road not breaking dyno records (or engine parts). My point is that my customer's cars have done very well in such dyno day comparisions in the past - in fact they have done very well.

They also have done very well on the track - drag strip and road racing.

And of course they did all of this while keeping a super amazing record of reliability and for a very reasonable value point.

NO way for us to know is there? All we know is that the 3 Dynoflash cars were all road tuned and all performed very well in comparison with the other cars.

LOL.. test pipes are worth 15-20whp over free flow cats.

OK, so a TBE w/HFC will make 15-20whp less than a catless TBE? I only gained 12whp/10wtq going from the STOCK cat to a test pipe. Anyway, that's a weak point to argue. The difference was 24whp/27wtq, not 15-20. Also, as stated, the top X-flashed car just says TBE - it doesn't say anything about a cat.

What does posting dyno results of road tuned Dynoflash Evos on one of the dynos listed in this thread have to do with the topic?

Or, what does comparing the cars that dyno'd the same day with similar mods and other tuning methods have to do with the topic?

Or, what does the gains from a test pipe vs a HFC have to do with the comparison of dyno results when comparing cars of similar mods tuned with different flashes and tested on the same dyno?

I think it all applies. JJ made the mistake of saying the link I provided wasn't a fair comparison, but it certainly is. It shows what you're looking for in this "Dyno Testing Team" production. Feel free to request deletion of anything I've written that you think isn't relevant to the purpose of this thread, which I thought was to show the validity of Dynoflash road tunes (or lack thereof).

It isn't a fair comparison for any tuner since we are comparing different cars w/ different parts. I'm just waiting for the WORKS guys to jump in and say their tunes were the best .

IMHO, I think we will see road tuned cars that are all over the HP specturm. Some will be good and others will be sub-par. This dyno event will show those results.

Well, you saw 3 right there and they were all near the top. Does that not deserve credit? Do you think this "event" will show results other than what has already been seen back when there was no attempt to disprove road tuning as a viable option?

Where does it state dynoflash road tunes only applicable in the 1st post?

I think there are more people than just Al doing road tunes.

Just let this thread live for data points, not more bickering. Information is good for everyone.

Plus people can get really good deals on baseline dyno runs.

Oh, so this wasn't a direct extension of the previous thread that didn't mention Dynoflash and that didn't begin a big debate about road tuning (Dynoflash) vs dyno tuning? Shiv, you're looking for road-tuned Evos with SAFCs, too? If so, then the timing is just coincidental I suppose.

Who knows? It's being done and its bringing more data to the masses.

S-AFC tuned EVOs certainly fit the bill. As do cars with Works Flashes. Basically any "tuned" EVO that has not had the opportunity to get any quantifiable dyno results. There are only a handful of road-tuned Dynoflash cars out here so limiting the test to them isn't going to be very interesting. The whole reason to offer this is for everyone to have a very good idea of how well their car is tuned and if it is making the power the owner expects it to. There are three independant shop willing to offer this service to EVO owners. If you want to question or even complain about it, that's fine. It seems that there are already a handful of people who want to take us up on the offer.
