You gonna be in GA this May at the Vishnu dyno day? I know an IX that would like to take you up on that!

I'm sorry but your comment really irritated me, because for some reason your trying take away from the accomplishment of this IX and so many others. First off there is no freakin' way your STi is anywhere near this EVO IX in WHP with just a Flash. There are STis that have Xede (not Flash) and Turboback Exhaust and don't come close to this IX. Only flash, doubt that to the fullest, and even if your STi some how was making 235-240WHP and 275-280WTQ, your going to lose a race between a car with 270WHP and 275WTQ, drivers race my ***.

Sorry-

EVO VIII>STi
EVO IX> STi
No offense, but your California gas SUCKS.
There are always several Stage 1 STis (exhaust and flash) at our Vishnu dyno days at Dyno4mance, and they made anywhere from 255-275whp on pump gas and just a bit over 300wtq on 93 octane. In the rest of the counrty, they're making a lot more power than in Cali and Arizona.

That said, the IX makes better power on 93 octane too, but the Subaru EJ motors are more detonation prone and thus respond very well to better fuel.

The reason Evos still are stronger with a bit of a torque deficit is because they (1) Have better turbos stock that make a lot more power up top and (2) Have substantially better gear spacing. That last one is the achilles heel of the STi, as it has to upshift to fifth before 100mph. You always have the clutch depressed in those cars.

Still, they are really nice with basic mods.

I don't think anyone is going to argue with you about the gas here being bad. There's always the rumors of future improvements to the gas. But we'll see.. I'm just glad that the IX can make such good numbers with such poor gas.

My friend has an 05 STI and I did find it really annoying how close his gears were. It was reminiscent of the honda b16a transmission. Does the US STI have the same gear ratios as the JDM 2.0?

Shiv Vishnu who would win in such a race. I want the fastest car between these 2 and does the Stis torque advqntage makes it better then evos. Can you make me faster Sti then Evos if so I get sti.

93 octane here....

I'll have some good comparable numbers for ya soon. I had a stage 2 - if that's what you call a tuned EM (ala Utec) and TBE on my 05 STi.

My Evo IX will soon be dyno tuned on the same dyno.... Same basic setup of EM (tuned Ecutek via Shiv) and TBE. I expect slightly higher hp numbers and probably lower torque. I'll post back up once it's done.

Ok dude, you're grammer doesn't make sense. You need to search....elsewhere on this stuff.

To clarify your question, with basic mods (ala stg 1 or 2), STi's are faster around town because of the down-low torque, but any Evo - especially a IX - would win is a flat out race because of the better top-end hp.

It's that simple. I've owned both....I know. You need to factor in other decisions besides which is slightly faster. There's tons of Evo vs STi threads in the main forums.

You have both Sti and Evo. Which one you think is bestest and faster? I think that write.
