I was curious. A reflashed EVO 9 usually yields about 270awhp on Shiv's dyno. What would an Evo 8 have to have (in mods) to get this same number on 91 oct? Can it be done with stock turbo and cams?

Usually.... and it doesn't matter the dyno....

An Evo IX with exhaust and a custom tune yeilds a little more power as an Evo VIII with exhaust, cams, and a custom tune. That's what I've figured out by searching. Check out the initial Evo IX tuning results that are around and see what people have said with VIII's.

 

Got 295 on shivs dyno with IX and TBE w/ HFC on 91. Yes it would take a tune, TBE, cams, cam gears etc. to get close to that. In fact I think your typical VIII will come in just below a flashed IX with TBE.

 

I was actually looking at just a stock IX with a flash and nothing else. So I'm really questioning if an Evo 8 could do 270awhp with just stock turbo and no cams on pump.

For a totally stock IX, we usually see power go from 230whp to 265whp with just the flash. Torque gains are even bigger.

No it cant. It will need a turbo back exhaust, test pipe of course to reach 265WHP on DD.

EVOIX is always 25 ~35 WHP ahead on EVO 8

This is with the stock turbo and cams, correct? Which is my question. If you take a stock 9 and reflash it to get 265awhp and then take a stock 8. What would you do to the 8 to get 265awhp without changing the turbo or cams?

It's possible but it's going to require a full exhaust with no cat. Maybe 93oct as well.

To get that on Shiv's dyno on a stock turbo and cams would be quite a feat... your talking pulley, upper/lower intercooler piping, tbe, 02 + 10.5 hotside... alky will get you there LOL

 

My car did 264whp/261wtq back when I had just SAFC / TBE with testpipe / FP / MBC on the gruppe-s mustang dyno which reads almost the same as shiv's DD.

 

Totally wrong information. You do not need a pulley (nobody needs this ever btw), IC piping, 02 housing and alky to make 265whp on shivs dyno.

 

You would probably need:

Cat-less TBE
MBC
Flash
93 oct

To get 265 awhp on a DD.

 

Yea, I think this is a little far fetched myself too. I got 244awhp on Shiv's dyno with just TBE, highflo cat and reflash on extremely conservative AFRs. I'm certain that with a few other mods I should be able to break 265awhp. I'm going to order a test pipe soon.

I hit 265.9 awhp on a DD today at Dyno4mance in Atlanta. Only mods I have are a turbo back exhaust, Forge MBC. And I am still using the stock cat, and 93oct, And I have no flash.
