It was my first Auto-x ever, never been involved with anything like it before, just stuck to the drag racing side. A fellow Evo owner put me up to it, so I showed up this morning to give it a shot. It was raining, but apparently that doesn't stop these guys. I had no idea what class my car would be in, turns out I was in Street Mod (SM) since I have cams.... at least that was the tech peoples reasoning.
I was in the first group out, I went 33.5, 32.1, 29.8, 28.9, 28.2 in my first set of runs. Then the rain let up and the track dried out a little. The second group ran, and then my group was out again. As we were getting back to our cars the skies opened up again soaking the track worse than it was in the morning. I went 32.1, rain stopped, 28.5, 27.8, 28.1, and 27.9. Up until this point I was FTD. The sun came out and really dried up the track, the second group came out for their last set of runs. I had FTD until the very last car on the very last run of the day. He had me by .05 seconds... 27.75. His car was a fully prepped miata, and he had been running for 7 years.
Needless to say the instructors were impressed. They gave me an FTD award anyway, even though I was actualy second fastest. They said if they had let me out on a dry course I would have probably been in the 26 second range. I was first in my class....
Needless to say I had an AWESOME time. I am so excited for the next event, and Shiv, we need to work on tuning my car for better response instead of peak power.... I'll see you in GA in May for that
Yes, I was the only Evio running. The event wasnt very crowded due to the rain, there were a lot of novices and veterans. Novices that didn't know better abotu rain and veterans that drive through it...
If you want to know the specs on my car, it's a standard 03 Evo, Vishnu v390 w/ 10.5 hotside, Megan Racing coilovers, Whiteline swaybars, 04 RS LSD, 17x9 5zigens with 245/40-17 BFG KDs....
All in all, awesome time, I'm an addict in one day....
P.S. - thanks for posting up the pics babe, Love ya!!

Great writeup. I'm both impressed and jealous. I'd be surprised if my car could pull off times like that. I'm set up too much for big track and 1/4 mile stuff. Thanks. You have the rear of your suspension really low. I'm just curious how that either helped or hindered you this weekend.
