Launching
I manage consistent 1.7's and sometimes 1.6's by rev'ing to 5000 and then slowly release until I find the spot where the clutch wants to engage. I then wait for the light and quickly release the clutch. By "quickly" I mean I don't slip at this point. I don't dump the clutch either. I just take my foot straight back. Someone once put it this way: Take your foot back as if you had just stepped in dog crap and were checking your shoe.
I had a two step that rev'd to 6000 and I found that I would spin the tires. Any lower than 5000 and I get bog. 5000 rpm's is the happy place for me. Practice on your car until you find what works best.

I have about 3400 miles on my IX and have yet to launch it. However, on three different occasions I have attempted to rev my car to the launch limiter (while stationary of course) and the car revs freely to 7500 rpms. Why is this? I had about 6 miles on the car when I purchased it.

launch control and cat...
i saw one in post in the 2 step launch control section of dynoflash but extensive research came up with nothing. the post suggested not using the launch control if you had a cat. increased exhaust temps make sense but what are everyones thoughts?

on my IX I hve discovered the launch control, BUT, I also found that when the clutch is not pushed all the way in, you can rev freely past the limit so now that sorta gives you a choice to use your stock 2 step or your own technique.
