smart/wideband problem...

i installed the innovative afr gauge today...after i powered it up, i plugged it in from the output on the lc-1, and got no reading...so i checked the l.e.d. that comes with the momentary switch, and it was dead..i connected another led that i had lying around, and now its blinking 8 times saying that the sensor is broken...so i was wondering if anyone else has seen this on the smart system...also, i've only had this installed for 3 months max, and i would check on the light every couple days, and it was always on constantly indicating that everything was working properly...i just can't imagine the sensor going bad in a few months...
thanks in advance for any input

I would contact innovate directly. It sounds like you might be having an issue with your gauge interface that is causing some funny business.

Did you terminate the serial input on the LC-1?

Also with the XD-16 you neet to take out the led and calibration switch since the gauge will do calibration now.

i didn't take out the calibrations switch or the led...didn't realize i needed to...thats sounds like it might be the problem...and how do you terminate the serial input on the lc-1, is it just by capping it off?

You have to use the terminated plug "arnold" as innovate refers to it. The chain is: LC-1 in terminated, LC-1 out to XD-16 in, xd-16 out open.

jorge t...i did what you said...and that was half the problem...the gauge now read instead of counting the blinking led...so now when i put the ignition on, the gauge is saying H, and then its counting up, but its only going into the high 60's and then i get E8...so its the same error code...i still can't imagine a sensor going so quickly, and i don't use any leaded gas, just straight meth...if you know of any way of reseting the sensor or another trick to get the sensor to work, that would be sweet, otherwise i'll get a new sensor and see what happens...but thanks again for the help...its nice to see the gauge actually reading...
