Conditional How-To: Lean-Run Protection
Today's incident was caused when I got on the throttle , backed off then floored it again.
I turned off conditional lean protect, did several wot 1st gear pulls watching the XD-16 gauge and AFRs check out fine. On the other hand conditional SMART fuel works well always keeps AFR within the target values.
I'll try again lean protect in the week end and try to replicate the problem.

This feature doesn't work too well with my methanol setup. I set it up as per the instructions and every time my car comes onto boost I get a fuel cut. Changed the time to 750, still cuts... 1000, still cuts... 1250, doesn't cut, much. I am considering changing the fueling table to start pulling fuel out at a higher load value. I fear there is a serious transitional lean condition when my car comes onto boost before the meth starts spraying.
Hatch, you and I must be in the same lost "zone" . I too have trouble running the conditional lean protect with meth. fuel cut big time once boost hit. At this point, I just gave up on the meth kit since it does nothing to help me with the power. I just wait till I find someone to tune it around here.
Just a question...
Are you guys logging the wideband?
When I had this problem with the first attempt at lean run protection, you could see the transition zone AFR which the more simplistic logic triggered on. In that case the transition zone was rather brief (WRT time).
In other words I would think that one would be able to see the effects in the wideband's logs.

No, I have not logged the wideband yet, but would it be safe to say that if the fuel cut was triggered with an "if" time of 1.25 seconds that the car is leaner than 13.5:1 for at least 1.25 seconds?
I'm not sure how to answer this. The problem I had the first time around was during the transition between gears, the AFR went lean (e.g. > 13) and took some time to go back to the normal AFR for WOT. The result was that when the load was increasing and the AFR getting richer, the Xede shut off fuel (i.e. the AFR didn't get rich fast enough for the Xede). While this was very obvious in the logs, the duration of the triggering event was << 1 second.
I can't speak for the current Xede firmware I would have to assume that if it is triggering then I would have to trust it. You really need to log these events to know what is really going on.
How is your methanol mapped on your car (e.g. map sensor or Xede)? Can you program the methanol to spray sooner?

Shiv tuned the car in the same manner he tuned Cajun's car and the meth it is set up the same way. The Xede simulates the AMS kits MAP-in with a table output. Yes, I can make the meth spray sooner or the Xede pull fuel later. I am planning on doing just this, but I have a way of screwing up everything I pay Shiv to do when I start messing around.
I do not have the lag between gears that you describe, this is simply when rolling onto the throttle. If I open the throttle slow enough it won't cut, but if I go from 5% throttle to 100% throttle as fast as I can, it will cut.
