help on updating old school xede

i need some help updating my xede that i got back in july of 2004 that i assume is running on the V2 firmware. right after i installed the xede i was away for 2 years and just recenly got back so i haven't really been following whats going in the vishnu world. Ive been searching threads but don't know if i'm finding what i need to know. My question is how do i update the firmware without xupdate which is no longer available so i can run the XMAP 3.2. i have XMAP v2 on my computer but no xupdate so i don't know how to update the firmware and when i open XMAP 3.2 it can't connect because its not compatible with the firmware i have now. I don't have the SMART system either. if someone could direct me to a thread showing me how to do this it would be greatly appreciated if not any help i can get would be great. Thanks

Well the answer lies buried within the how-to installation intructions for the SMART system...

This should get you where you want to be...I have not done this...mine had V3 firmware already installed. If you have questions, someone else will have to jump in!

i believe there was an issue with the xmap software to update if you were going from v2 to v3.2. you needed to use xmap 3.0 to do the firmware update and then you can use xmap 3.2 to upload maps and log and stuff. if you have problems doing it with xmap 3.2, i still have all my xede software and could send you the files if need be.

oh and btw. when you have to do the key on, key off stuff during the update process, you have to do it FAST otherwise it won't accept it. took me to find the answer on that one.

I have found that the xupdate software is better at updating the firmware alone. Then you will need xmap to load a map in it. Read the directions *****you have to start the car when the software says to reboot the Xede.

[inside joke] it also helps to connect the serial cable...

If you look at the software and it says: "Status: Not connected" in the lower left hand corner, its always a hint something might not be quite right.

i managed to get xupdate and my firmware version is 1.6.4 which im assuming is ancient. i loaded the v300 91 octane map which is what i want but its only boosting 17psi no matter what. im trying to update but it says reboot exede which i can't figure out how to do. i restarted the car and and tried it in every key position and the window just won't go away
