That is good to know. That car should respond great to tuning considering how rich it runs and the lack of power above 5500 rpm. The MS3 runs richer than a stock Evo above 4k. And I thought the Evo was rich

Funny you asked. I'm in texas right now tuning Miatas, BMWs and yes, a brand new Mazdaspeed 3. Just got the Xede installed on it a few hours ago. Going to the dyno tomorrow to actually tune it

Cheers,
shiv

Nice Please post a dyno sheet for us to see. I would love to see the power the car would make after the tuning.

I'll post the dyno graph when i get back to CA. IIRC, here are today's tuning results:

Stock: 240whp, 280lbft of torque
w/Xede: 290whp, 315lbft of torque

It's a fast car. Wheelspin in 3rd gear! Whoo hoo!

Have you got a handle on that low gear traction control yet?...I have heard it is very invasive

50whp from just an Xede Tune, I mean Shiv I consider you one of the best tuners out there, but I would really like to start seeing some trap speeds from some of these new cars that you have been tuning, such as the 335i and MS3. Maybe I'll meet a couple on the streets, already ran into a modded 335i and I held him off with my lowly 309whp EVO IX.

Look I am not saying that Shiv isn't a great tuner, but it is just not my nature to start jumping on the bandwagon so fast. I've done this in the past, and have came out looking silly, i.e. White Rabbit Turbo. We are so quick to be amazed and impressed with the little data or info for other cars, but when it comes to our own cars (the EVO) our opinions are usually reserved and skeptical until further proof is provided. My point is why don't we hold our tuners to the same standards when they deal with other cars. I'm sorry but maybe it's just me, but I can see how a initial positive dyno of certain cars would benefit somebody, especially if it establishes a new customer base.

Now this is what I am talking about (nearly perfectly matched up 1/4 mile Trap to Dyno Power)-
Soon2BEVO
378whp/386wtq
stock turbo
93 octane
11.9@118MPH

and I believe he walked a GT35R STi w/ pump gas numbers of 419whp (Dyno Dynamics)

I knew the White Rabbit had it's problems the first time I dyno'd one Didn't have to take it to the drag strip to find that out. The MS3 belongs to a customer of Bell Engineering. It's really not my place to take it to the track. Heck, I don't even know where the track is here in San Antonio Texas. If customers want to do it, they are encouraged to do so. I get all the info I need on the dyno and on the road.

Okay just to show that Shiv's tune does make power at the track, I dynoed at about 360whp on dynojet with 100oct, then I ran 12.3@115.38 with 1.77 60ft. I pretty sure my car could hit 116mph, remember this I only running HKS 264s cams which makes my topend not as strong.

Some of us do not give a rat's *** about drag racing. I have yet to drag race. I have only attended one drag racing event in my lifetime. I do not think Shiv cares about drag racing either.

The MS3 will suck at the drag strip since its ECU limits the power in 1 and 2 gears to reduce wheelspin. The MS3 is good for the road course where 1st and 2nd gears are not such a factor.
