Big cam Xede fix

First off the cams rock hard (272E/264I)!! There is some "lope" at idel that I could have lived with but I was itching to try the Xede a little more The fix took 10 minutes and was vey easy. Plug your laptop (Xmap armed) into the Xede and they are connected I changed only four settings in the MAF table (im an idiot and dont know how to upload non internet pics- someone please do a screenshot of the Xede MAF table) anyway the 2 bottom left cells (500 and 1000 rpm on the x axis 0 on the y ) I changed to MAF scaling 30 which showed up as 29.9 and the two cells on top of them (500 and 1000 rpm on the x axis and 7 on the y ) I changed MAF scaling to 20 which showed up as 19.9. I also let a little more air past the throttlebody by using a stubby #2 screwdriver which upped the rpms by ~50 which you can monitor in real time through the xede. I did this just to play around and my gf didnt even notice

NOTE THE CORRECTED TYPO IN GREEN!

How hard is it to get those cams right now? How much do they cost? Why not the 264/264? Finally, if your car is your true daily driver, (250 miles per week) is the stage one plus too aggresive?

MP5, if you play around like that and don't like the results, do you have to remember every change you made or can you just hit some sort of a default reset button?

No the actual data is easily saved on the pc (its a small file) and you can reconvert. Last I knew vishnu had a few of these otherwise its hell to get a hold of. The 272 exhaust adds more spool to the turbo quick. check out http://www.automotosports.com/cam_test.asp

Yes I have a 60 mile commute every day and most weekends Stage 1 definately is aggressive and it is crazy not to expect some added wear but this is one serious setup

Also be sure to check your 3D charts! It saved me by seeing a +20 spike in an unintended area befor running the map

How much do these camshafts cost? Would you go straight from stock to Stage One +??? Since I have to install the cam gears, how much extra labor is it to install the cams?

A bit more labor but It is really straight forward you do have to take the gears off to install the cams it all depends on if your installer has the correct mitsu tool to release the tensioner instead of doing the whole belt breakdown. Most shops Ive seen dont do the tool cause they can charge you 4 extra hours labor I would order it its like $30 and make them use that then you could spend the same as you woulda and have them install the cams. cams are between 5-600 depending on were you pick them up. Stock to stage 1+ is MASSIVE!! It will definately kick your *** but stage 1 is very nice and a track monster!

The ECU will eventually correct this back down to the normal idle speed. You have to open the bypass so much that the idle air controller can't correct anymore. But the idle can be erratic at that point.

The correct way to up the idle is to do it in the ECU. My car idles perfectly at 950RPMs with HKS cams.

I have an Eclipse with DSMLink, so it doesn't really apply to you guys. Though the creators of DSMLink say they are planning on an Evo version. www.dsmlink.com
