ATTN: Stage 1+ users

Just wanted to remind all those Stage 1+ users (basically everyone we shipped cams to during the last couple of weeks) to upgrade your fuel pumps (if you haven't done so already). A pump upgrade was necessary for our shop car in order to maintain fuel control above 6000rpm where the stock pump (on our car, at least) couldn't maintain fuel pressure. You could "get by" with a stock pump but it would be on the bleeding edge of what it is capable of supporting. In other words, what works now may not work so well in another 10k miles of wear and tear on an aging pump. FWIW, we used a Walbro drop-in in our cars. It's inexpensive and a direct fit replacement. We have a few in stock and more are just a few days away if needed.

Regards,
Shiv

Oops... ignore that warning. I got a bit confused. I dyno way too many cars I was thinking about another EVO (our first Stage 2 prototype) where the stock pump proved to be inadequate above 270-280whp (on our dyno, of course). But the recommendation to upgrade the pump in Stage 1+ applications is still reasonably since it is capable of making close to that power. Of course, we do see limitations here in CA with our miserable 91oct since we need to run our cars far richer under boost than you out-of-staters.

As for the injectors, they are fine in our 91oct application so I suspect they will more than fine in 93-94 applications.

As for the cost of the upgraded pump, I believe it is around $150. Pretty cheap considering its importance.

Sheepishly,
Shiv

First time I was going to have to disagree with you Shiv But saying that I will prolly do just that for the added benefit of security of a pump made just for those pressure levels in the future. now get us some 93 maps I think we will be fine

Just to be sure, you dropped in the Walbro 255lph? Does it play nice with the stock FPR?

Hmm Im not so sure about this anymore- Shiv is a new fuel pump needed on stage 1+ cars running 93 octane and especially when the cam gears get tunned? My main concern is the far upper rpms. There will of course need to be a complete remap I suppose

Actually our fuel pumps retail for $130.00 and always have. That's why we do not normally let Shiv answer the phones here for sales calls.

My Bosch 10208 (Endyn special) is loud as hell (its under the car). Even wrapped (w/ rubber insulation) its still loud. Perhaps you could use the Walbro and then use some sound deadening material between ..... just an idea

If you change the fuel pump, do you have to change to a adjustable fuel regulator, as the factory one is preset, correct?

Thanks,
Wilson
