Firmware Update
Oops, I mean "FIRMWARE" update. Silly fingers.
Well, I tested it on two other EVOs yesterday. Both of which occassionally get both the misfire code and idle lumpiness during cold start. And it worked just peachy. Idle is smooth as silk and I don't expect the misfire code to pop up as a result. Another upside is that some of the newest XEDE are now capable of having their firmware updated by the end user instead of having to ship them back to me. And they don't even have to open up the XEDE box to set the XEDE into boot mode. I can post up details on that, as well as instructions, later when the time comes.
Now the bad news is that all the baseline maps will no longer be useful since MAF signal scaling, despite all my attempts, has changed. Quite significantly, in fact. So, it would make sense for us to first redo all our baseline maps to account for the new MAF scaling BEFORE releasing the new firmware to the public. This is because running the old maps on the new firmware will make the cars run a full point leaner in AFR. Not good and best to be avoided.
I have already started setting aside time to develope the new baseline maps from scratch. My next trips to the East Coast (and the southeast) will only help matters. I'm looking for ways to the make the firmware/baseline map transition as SMOOTH and as FOOLPROOF as possible
Any suggestion?
Cheers,
Shiv

Set aside some upcoming day as a "virtual" tuning day. We can all download the new baseline maps and upload them on them on our xedes on the same day. Pick about four or five guys (MP5, Kartboy, Eric L, etc) to lead question and answer sessions on EVOM AND, if needed, they can PM their phone number to whomever is having issues or questions and walk them through the process. On this day, Shiv, only take calls from these guys. The general xede population, people such as me, should only talk to you if the other guys can't solve the problem and are refered to you. We already have the Xede Tuning forum. We could use that....
As far as updating the new firmware, well, thats not quite as simple. If the xede is new, however, no problem for end user using internet and laptop, etc from home.
By the way, you updated me already, right?

I'm good friends with a local AWD shop.
If you need I can develop some 93oct base maps. Just give you your target A/F for base maps and I can send them to you for editing.
I'm mostly stock excpet for a exhaust with can be easly taken off.

So our current maps wont work if we have our Exede's firmware updated? Im still runing the old, old Xede (P0243 CEL for boost ground) and running my custom V1.2 maps. Ive been wanting to send my Xede in for an upgrade, but dont want to start my tooning over from scratch. Am I off?

How can we identify if we have "some of the newest Xede" so we can determine if our units are capable of firmware upgrades without having to return them?
Additionally, can you do firmware upgrades during dyno days for the Xedes that cannot be done by the user?
thanks,

Hopefully the map file format has a version number somewhere in it and also the XEDE has a means of telling XMap its firmware revision.
I would try to revise XMap so it will not let you burn old maps into new XEDE's or vice versa. If this functionality is not in the current version of XMap you run the risk of people burning mismatched maps anyway, but moving forward this sort of version checking would be a good feature to have.

Xede runs great but one issue. That i need to know on the best steps because it is annoying.. Everything is installed correctly and it runs perfect, but sometimes my xede will somehow disconnect i might have a clue to the actual connectors to the xede and the harness, but havn't been able to narrow it down. where my xede will be on and still have a green light but i will only boost 11 psi. now the only way i can tell that this is the issue is when i turn my key to the ac/on position where it should blink orange, it will fade to green. this is when i know there is a issue. so i keep doing random things until when i turn the key it blinks orange than i turn on the car and it turns green than i hit 21 psi. again. could i have a faulty xede unit or harness. or what..... anyone else running into this..

Fraid not. I'm trying to keep the beta testers in the neighborhoods so I can keep a close eye on them as far as CEL and idle issues go. Plus, I don't want customers using the new firmware until the current map database is removed completely

BTY, I installed the spacer cubes "Borg Cubes" for my exhaust this morning. I am such an idiot for not doing it a month ago. The car runs like silk and so much quieter!
