Shiv......
I was wondering if there was a recomended break in period before the installation of a Stage1/signature package. I realize the tolerances in newer cars are tighter than the old days so there may be little or no break in period needed?
Thanks................

I'm trying to wait until I'm confident there are no issues with the car. I'll probably upgrade somewhere after the 1000 mile mark. After 600 miles you are good to go to open it up, at least according to the manual.

But seeing as the warranty could be called into question should the motor fail on dyno, I chose to stay with the synth. Also, two my cars, a z06 I had for a while and a c32 which I still have, come from the factory with synth. Now while I would now elevate the biuld quality of a mitsu motor to the same level of a hand assembled AMG I don't think it is any less well made than a chevy motor. So that's how I rationalized the breakin on synth. It is contrary to what I am used too.
I think before people decide to choose an alternate strategy that may void thier warranty they should ask themselves if they are prepared to deal with the consequences.

i bought a demo with 1400 miles so im pretty sure they did break-in with mobile 1 sythethic... now my evo got 1700 miles, should i bother switching to non-synthetic oil now or no point?
Maybe it's because I've been involved with aviation maintenance too long but I'm a firm believer in believing the manuals written by the manufacturer. The last time I looked at the owner's manual, it gave break in mileage and cautions as well as stating what type of motor oil to use for the vehicle. I figure if they were smart enough to build the car, then they probably know enough about the car to put the recommendations in writing. The manual calls for mobil 1 synthetic so I stick with that.

from what i have read in forums (although i am open minded about it), mobile 1 is extra security for the turbo but non-synthetic is ok.... but mobile 1 is too slick for the engine to break-in properly...

The service manager at the dealership that I bought my car, said this........" its a better way to break-in the engine, (non-synthetic) but you will void the warrenty" He said that they wouldnt check for the oil type unless the engine spun a bearing or something with so few miles. I wouldnt have a problem breaking in the car with non-synthetic oil.......I just wouldnt stomp on it until the engine was broken in and is back to the Mobil-1 synthetic.
