FWIW I raced a CLK 55 AMG which has the 360hp/370tq motor, the car weighs 3650lbs.... so basically 400lbs more than the EVO w/no sunroof which I have.

The race was starting at the traffic light and going up an overpass, so the torque really helps in this case.

I only have the xflash on my car, we started off quick I got a little ahead of him in 1st gear, then he comes up on me in 2nd, I rip through 3rd and almost pass him, then we are in 4th and he's neck and neck with me, but pulling away slowly.

With the weight penalty he has, I can guesstimate another 40hp to my car (100lbs=10hp). So that would mean about 340hp for my car and 20hp down to his car.

I think that if we would of raced on a flat road continuously I would of had the advantage.

But to answer your question, I think Stage 1 (flash, exhaust, cam gears) is plenty to beat M5s and AMG 55s.

The E55 has 100 more HP then this CLK. The E55 will kill your evo

Mercedes E55 AMG performance stats:

0-60 mph: 4.5s
0-100 mph: 9.7s
1/4 Mile: 12.4s @ 116.2 mph

Top Speed: 155 mph (limited)
Gas Mileage: 14 MPG City / 20 MPG Highway

For safety's sake, add a + at the end of the stage 1

Hey Ryan,

What kind of gas mileage do you see with Stage 1+ (city/hwy)?

Thanks,

Steve

I've been running Stage 1+ for over three weeks now. I don't have exact numbers, but I'm guessing I'm getting around 20 mpg, which is better than I was getting when I was stock. My driving is probably 2/3 city, 1/3 highway; I "get on it" when I have the chance, which in Northern Virginia traffic is unfortunately not very often.

Well last time i weighed my car was at etown and it was 3442 w/ a tool box in the back and half a tank of gas....

Back to topic...Intake, Full Exhaust, some type of tuning-DynoFlash or Xede or whatever floats your boat, boost controller, camshafts.... that should be enough to play with the big boys or until a bit passed 120+ when gearing and aerodynamics takes over

I have couple concerns about modding the car.
1) My two other cars are mods; stroked and bored. I need a car that is reliable enough for daily use. Somehow, the devil lurked me into buying the Evo for daily driving .
Hence,
2) I don't want a car with a loud exhaust.
3) I don't want a car that is less drivable and breaks down often.

I am planning to sell my 4 dr 400hp V8 BMW since I don't see any use of it anymore, anyway. I want my Evo as the replacement for that car. Evo just lacks a bit of power to make it perfect.

I was thinking of the XFLASH, but I am affraid it is not enough. I am intrigued to go for Stage 1 or 1+, but I really have the loud exhaust concern.

Any advice?

I was reading on another thread (which I've forgotten) about an exhaust for the EVO that makes the car even QUIETER than stock. It's some japanese name (forgot the name too) but if you use search you might could find it. Just saying it's out there if you look.

Fujitsubo is probably the exhaust you're thinking of.
