Just wondering...is it possible to VTA with the XEDE or the XEDEflash combo without having the car stall? I had an HKS SSQV VTA on my car with just a SAFC II...god did it suck! I want to know if you can do something with all the knowledge in your head to allow us to use VTA on our cars.
I already know Recirc is best...and I definately agree with that...but sometimes for fun I want to runVTA when I go to shows and stuff. I know with the XEDE you can have two maps...but I am not sure if that would help things. Please let us all know!!!

Yeah that's what I thought....just wanted to know if Shiv had a way to do it with either the XEDE or the XEDEflash combo. I know Buschur says to use the AEM EMS with ummm...god what was it...Speed Density I think he said.

Is the pshhht really that important.
It's not totally important. I prefer performance over sound ANY day. Although sometimes it's nice to do it at shows ya know. It's for all the little twerps that don't know jack about cars. It get's their attention. If I was to pick...I would recirc any day of the week. At the shows I would like to be able to have the ability to "pshhht" LOL as you put it!

I couldn't find the answer, but I bet that at least in its current form, it can only output the type of signal that it has read in. In other words, speed density -> XEDE -> speed density, or karman -> XEDE -> karman. But not speed density -> XEDE -> karman, which is what the Evo would need.

The HKS VPC is a speed density to Karman converter on DSMs.

The Xede down't drive the injectors directly. Instead, it modifies inputs to the stock ECU. The only inputs to the stock ECU that would affect fuel delivery are the MAF frequency, the barometric pressure sensor, and the intake air temp sensor, all of which are located in the MAF.
So if the Xede allows you to run with speed density, it must convert from a MAP/air temp/RPM mass airflow calculation (with a volumetric efficiency table) into one that the ECU can understand, which would be MAF frequency, barometric pressure voltage, and the intake air temp sensor voltage.
That is what an HKS VPC does. But it holds the barometric pressure and intake air temperature values constant, and varies the frequency that the ECU sees.
