xede

since i cant decide on rims LOL I am going to go with a Xede or UTec. I have one question. I only have a Turboback exhaust would it be really necessary for me to buy a Xede or UTec. I want to get the most out of my cars ECU. For future mods I would just do a new fuel pump, new injectors and intake thats probably it. Just new to the the whole ECU tuning thing. dont know which route to go.

Hey man. I used to have a WRX and am very familiar with TurboXS products, especially the UTEC, as I have friends who have used it in the past. That said, I like the XEDE a lot more than the UTEC. The XEDE has been tuned longer on US Evos and is proven to make great power. Also, I don't like the interface on the UTEC at all.

The gerat thing about an XEDE is that for $100 more, you can get an XEDEflash, which reflashes your factory ECU as well to take advantage of extra features like a raised boost cut, increases rev limit, and a removed speed limiter. This raised boost limit allows you to run a map for your car that gives it incredible midrange punch due to higher boost in the 3500-5000rpm range. The best part is that this is accomplished with safety in mind, so you won't have to worry about the longevity of your engine! The boost control is spot on.

The XEDE constantly has cool new features coming out that make it better all the time! One of these is launch control, and if you're in to drag racing at all, it is a pretty great benefit.

Another killer thing about the XEDE is that it has closed loop mapping as well. One huge plus about this is noticably increased gas mileage. I've watched my highway mileage improve by 4mpg! Over time, that adds up a lot.

The final thing I'll say about the XEDE that is great is this forum and the fact that we all stick together and really want to help each other. I hope you choose to go the Vishnu route! Your car will certainly be a lot stronger, very safe, and more fuel efficient. What more could you ask for? Hope to see you more in this forum very soon, bro!

Lastly, there is already a map for an Evo with turbo-back, just like your car is currently set up. Its called the Stage Zero+. All you really need to do is call Vishnu and get an XEDE/XEDEflash set up and shipped to you with that map and you can plug and play to enjoy all the extra power.

I hope this info is helpful to you. Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

wow awesome response. I was thinking i was going to get a "DO A SEARCH" response. Definately interested. I heard though the wait for the xede is a couple weeks.

The Xede only takes about 10 minutes to install. Once you do it once you should be able to take it apart just as fast. If you are going to take it to the dealer, just take it out.

I started with the XFlash, but upgraded to the XEDEflash. The Xede is just so much more controllable and has tons of room to grow. Like Jev3gs said, its a snap to pull out if you need to. Don't let that aspect scare you at all!

I have tried other things, but am really so much happier with the XEDE. "Do a search" responses are pretty crappy of people to post up. I'd rather take the time to type something out and get you the right product the first time (and not make the past expensive mistakes I did). Like I said, we help each other here.

Sometimes there is a bit of a wait due to stock issues, but it is WELL WORTH IT. This is the best vendor I've ever bought from on EvoM. My car is so much faster than it was on my ghetto SAFC, its a blast.

So basically i just need to download a map onto my laptop then download it to the Xede and thats it. I dont want to tinker with too much cause i dont know **** about ECU parameters and what not lol. From reading some past post on the EVOM forums i was under the impression that to use certain maps you are forced to buy Vishnu products.

You aren't forced to at all. Plus, you don't even have to download the map. They can ship it to you pre-installed and everything will be ready to go.

You can get the rims later! I haven't bought any yet either. Make the car fast first, then make it pretty.

I have the Xede, full turbo back and am running the new and improved Stage 0+ map and I am very happy. Vishnu has been great with service and questions with only one exception. They did not include or make it known that with the full turbo back exhaust I would need a gasket kit that was not included. Not really a big deal but it would have been nice to have it included (for a price) or have it ready from another source.

Before too long I intend on getting cams, cam gears and fuel pump, all of which I will order from Vishnu if possible. I will also get the Xedeflash too along with the other stuff.

The car handles great as stock, personally I would wait on that aspect of the car and bump up the power first, and in fact thats what I did and am going to continue on.
