XedeFlash or XFlash?????

Okay, I just read the info on the website for both. I am a little confused. I know that the XFLASH is reflashing you cars ECU and I think the XEDEFLASH is where you send you XEDE in and SHIV does what? Or am I wrong. Before I bought the Stage 1 I made the mistake of gietting my car flashed by someone else. Won't name names. My car currently has the Stage 1 and the ****Flash but just the ****FLASH that removes the boost taper, the speed limiter and the fuel cut. Anyway, I have noticed that my car does boost to 23 psi during cold days but when it is over 70 my car only boost to 1.4 bar. Damn what I wrote is really confusing.

Ok, what is the difference between the XFLASH and the XEDEFLASH and will it help my low boost prob?

OOPS for got to add.

I also have this prob. When a due a pull on the street say 3rd gear from 2500rpm to redline I will get hesitation. Not bad but the car will pull hard as hell then you will feel it kind of not pull as hard then it will at the higher RPMs. Now the difference is tiny but you still can feel it.

Ohh and I still have the XMAP Version 1 and the 93 map in. Any help?

The XFlash is a reflash of the ecu. The Xedeflash is also a reflash of the ecu but is only for those who have the xede piggyback unit as well.

So it only cost me 100 buck if I already have the Stage 1 correct? You guys will be able overwrite the the old flash correct? What is the trunaround time when you get my ECU?

All the flash for the XEDEflash does is remove the rev limiter, the boost cut, and the top speed limiter. If you have a Dynoflash stage rev, they should be identical or really close. All your air:fuel, timing, and boost control parameters are controlled through your XEDE, from Shiv's baseline map. Basically, you already have an XEDEflashed car for all intents and purposes IF the Dynoflash adjusts rpm limit, boost cut, and the speed limiter. I'm pretty sure it does, as you'd be hitting boost cut in the middle at 23psi. The maximum values tend to move a little bit on warmer days, but that's the way life with boost control.

Tony- I should get my serial cable this week, and already have the laptop, so maybe you could try my map out if you want. The only thing I do not like is the fact that you're getting hesitation at some spot in the powerband. If Shiv doesn't see this post, maybe give Vishnu a buzz and see what he thinks about that midrange hesitation.

I wish you could come to that Atlanta dyno day. I still hate that we couldn't connect in Dallas.

Thank you NOIZE

Well I was at the Dallas Dyno day just had to leave before my time on the dyno. My babysitter flaked at the last moment and had to bring my 7 year old. After 6 hours I could tell she would have no more. I would be willing to meet you anywhere Noize, you just name the time and place. I will be glad to even take some time off of work to meet ya. That hesitation thing ONLY happend when I go form a low RPM roll to redline in 3rd, if I do a race situation 1st, 2nd, 3rd it doesnt do it and it is very mini hesitation. You could drive my car and see for yourself. Ohh and Ill be glad to pay for your time and effort and for the badarse custom map. Thanks Noize.

Have you checked sparkplug gaps? The symptoms described seem like plug misfire.

No

I have not checked the sparkplug gap, I will tonight. Anyone suggest some new plug to go with the Stage 1?

i was a little confused as to the difference as well.

let me get this straight. The xede piggy back will eliminate the boost taper etc, bujt it wont raise the rev limit. To raise the rev limit i will have to get the xede piggy back AND the xede flash? OR am i backwards? Would the xede piggy back take care of all of that?

im basically looking to take advantage of no more boost taper on an almost completely stock EVO.

any info is appreciated.

oh yeah, you can thank noize for the newb questions since he pointed me towards this forum.

Tony-

Sorry, I've been away and haven't seen this thread until now. Sadly, I live NOWHERE NEAR YOU. I live in Nashville, Tennessee, and drove to Dallas to get Shiv to tune my car.

While I appreciate your offer to pay for the map, I'll hear no more of this paying me stuff! You'll take my map for free via email and you'll like it, sucker!

How do you feel about a road trip weekend to get a real Shiv tune, though? I'd LOVE to see you come to the dyno day in Atlanta over that weekend (yes, it is far), but we'll all be at Dyno4mance hanging out anyway. Reason I say this is because Shiv tuning your car is going to be "perfect" compared to my map which could either be closer or not quite right as every car is different.

The dyno day appears to be full, but don't worry- I'll give you my slot if I can't squeeze you in the schedule *if you're interested in coming*. If we end up being that overbooked, I'll just run a default race gas map. I also have a couple of friends in Saturday slots, and would be willing to try to give you whatever day you want on the dyno and a really close time approximation so there is no guesswork.

I know you had to leave on your own accord in Dallas, but it sucked to me that you were there the entire day, and you had tro go right before your time. So let me know if you want a slot. It would be $100 to Dyno4mance and you'd also need to call Vishnu to pay for tuning, but you'd have a perfect map for your car.

As far as my map, you're still totally welcome to it, but a custom tune is always the best. What turbo-back do you have? I have a Buschur (which my car was tuned to), but am looking to replace it with a Vishnu dump back very soon. Let me know what you are thinking.

Hey Sh4r... err Dylan, welcome to the Vishnu forum on Evolutionm.net!

Let me explain a few things for you:

1) XFlash $400: This is a comprehensive reflash of the ECU's control parameters. To get this product, you'd overnight your ECU to Vishnu for reflashing. When it comes back to you, it is updated with the following things (according to the modifications on your car) :
-Raised peak boost values with higher levels in the middle, but still tapering a bit toward redline (not as much as stock) for safety.
-Tuned air:fuel ratio. The fueling for the stock ECU maps on the Evo go pig rich beyond 5500rpm. From side by side comparisons I've seen on the dyno, Shiv's baseline (mail order) maps produce the best power results with the greatest margin of safety by far.
-Timing. The XFlash maps advance timing in places where it is needed tosafely increase power.
-Supplied boost line. With the XFlash, you don't run an MBC (Manual Boost Controller), becasue you get an upgraded vacuum line that still lets your factory ECU control boost, but at the higher output level the map is intended for.
-Closed loop tuning. This is a huge advantage of going with Vishnu for tuning purposes. Your ECU will be remapped for cruising as well, and your fuel economy will increase for normal driving.
-Rev limit increase
-Boost cut increase

2) XEDE: $899 with free software. This is the step up from a standard XFlash system. The XEDE is a physical piggyback that comes with a harness to attach to your ECU. It is more advanced than the XFlash, in that it is fully self-tunable (be careful with this, as with any user adjustable system). Also, there are all kinds of awesome features that the XEDE receives that the XFlash does not:
-Boost control. The XEDE controls boost itself. While the XFlash system has been improved and works awesome, the XEDE system is pretty limitless for programming and precision.
-Switchable maps!! Race gas map, valet map, etc. Pick your needs, as there are multiple slots for different calibrations. IMO, this is a big advantage over the XFlash.
-Launch control. Want to drag race and launch in boost without walking on a tightrope trying to modulate the throttle and the clutch? This feature takes throttle guesswork out of the equation. All you have to do is concentrate only on executing a safe clutch slip while holding the gas. The XEDE's launch control will control the modulation of the throttle.
-LOL at myself. There are a LOT more features, but Shiv has already written them out, and has done a better job explaining them than I could. Follow this link: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=59637

3) XEDEFlash: $999. This is ultimate. Basically, its an XEDE with a $100 reflash for the ECU that controls some basic parameters that the XEDE does not at this time. Those functions are raising the rev limiter, speed limiter, and the target lever for boost cut. This is the system I have and its one heck of a deal at $999.

Another helpful thing for visualization purposes would be Vishnu's website: http:www.vishnutuning.com

Also Dylan, you have my number. Call me anytime if you have questions, bro.

Its easy to be a staunch advocate of good products, especially when you see firsthand that they deliver awesome performance compared to the competition!

I guess since im not going to be heavily modifying my EVO ill stick with the xflash for now.

especially since im so new to the turbo AWD tuning world. I wont want anything that i can screw up.
