JOEY or NOIZE and SHIV

I want to get the XMAP VER.2. That is the only new one out right. I don't want to even touch the XEDE myself as I always seem to destroy the littlest electrical compents. If I send my XEDE in how long will it take to get back from Vishnu? Is there anyone that can walk me through the process of updating the XMAP to Ver.2 or VER.3? Thanks fellas

Ohh and I still have that problem with the XEDE not booting up correctly and the car only boosting ot .6 bar. I still can fix it by letting the car cool then restarting the car. Any guesses on that?

I have not even plugged into it yet, so I am not familiar with changing any of the programing. I believe Noize would probably be pretty familiar with it as he is a computer savy kind of a guy.

Tony-

In Shiv's words from another thead in the forum:

"How To Update Firmware for your XEDE Engine Control Computer

1) Remove the Black connector from XEDE unit. Locate Pin 9 on the Black connector. In the diagram below, it is the pin needed to set the XEDE into its “Boost Mode” which is necessary for conducting firmware updates.

2) You will now need to insert the boot wire (supplied in our firmware updating “kit”, of course!) into Pin 9 of the black connector. This is done by first removing the orange hard plastic insert on the face of the connector with a set of needle nose pliers. This will expose the inside of the connector. Next, push the supplied wire into Pin 9 from the back of the connector until it “latches” on to the securing hook inside the connector. Go ahead and re-insert the hard orange plastic insert into the face of the connector.

3) Plug the Black connector back into the XEDE unit.

4) Next, you will need to route the newly inserted boot wire to the 12v terminal of the battery (yes, under the hood). Yep, you’ll have to extend it with some scrap wire we’re sure you have lying around. Secure it firmly to the 12v terminal using alligator clips, tape, glue, twine, etc,.

5) Go ahead and start the engine. Confirm that the XEDE is in Boot Mode by looking at its LED indicator light. It should be un-lit.

6) Open XUpdate v2.0.0.0. If you don’t have it, it can be downloaded from: http://www.xede.com.au/software.htm

7) Run the problem and select the “Firmware” tab. The screen should look like this:

3) Using the “Browse” feature, select the desired firmware file if it isn’t already in the window.

4) Click on the “GO-Update firmware” button. Click yes to confirm the firmware update. You will now see this window:

5) Go ahead and reset the XEDE by turning the ignition to the “OFF” position and then immediately start the engine again. XUpdate will now go through the firmware updating process by erasing the old firmware, uploading the new firmware and verifying the new code.

6) Once the updating process is verified, you can now turn the ignition to the “OFF” position, remove the boot wire from the 12v terminal of the Battery, remove the boost wire from the Black connector, and start your engine. Confirm that the LED indicator light is solid green. If so, you’re done. Go drive! "

If that looks a little confusing to you, I'd suggest you send it in. I'm sure Vishnu can turn it around in a day, but you have to factor in the travel time to the freight carrier.

Now that I read your post again, you might send the Xede and harness in if you're having boot up problems so they can diagnose it. Call first for authorization (when they get back from the OTC next week). Then, just make sure you leave instructions in the box describing that you want the firmware update, also note that you also have a boot up problem, and include your name and return address when you do this so they can expedite it more quickly.

BTW, my laptop battery is dead and won't hold a charge longer than 2 minutes. I need to go buy an adapter so I can supply power via the cigarette lighter. I'm going to buy a Vishnu exhaust next week, so if you'd rather have my custom map with the Vishnu exhasut from the dyno day May 16th, let me know. That way, the modifications will be closer.

I hope you find some of this information useful!

Not to sound corny but...

Seth you are awesome!!!!!! I really appreciate all the help. I will wait until they get back from OTC and send the XEDE and harness nextday air to them and put in a extra slip for them to send the XEDE back next day air also!!Think they will work with me?

The new map with the Vishnu Exhaust sounds great. I am always around so I'll keep hounding you for the VISHNU map Thanks again Seth!!

I think they'll definitely work with you. See if you can't get Brett on the phone, because he's always been very fast to respond.
