Question XEDE Help please

Today (April 27) I receive my XEDE from UPS. Very quick shipping I must say.

I started my install today around 2pm. The installation went without any major problems, pulling out the wire from the connector was very easy. I pulled the light green wire from the right most connector (largest one) and inserted the blue wire from the XEDE harness. I then inserted the black male wire into the light green wire and used shrink-wrap to seal the two wires together. Once I finished with the wires I plugged the XEDE harness into the left most ECU connector. I then plugged all the connectors back into the ECU. I left the XEDE on the floorboard of my car and then proceeded to remove the boost restriction pill from the boost line. Once again this went without any problems, although, getting it out was a little difficult.

Afterwards, I started the car and it idled very low, sometimes near 200rpm. At first I thought that this was normal and the ECU would need to re-learn. The relay also clicked “alot” in rapid succession when driving around. I also saw that my boost hit 22psi so at the time I “thought” things were ok. Well, after a two stalls when test driving around the neighborhood I called a few of my friends and determined that I had installed the blue wire from the harness in the wrong light green side. (Opposite side of the white pin lock)

At this point, with the boost control wire installed in the correct location, and shrink-wrapped again, I went out on another test drive. This time I was only able to hit 11psi and the car felt much slower. I also never heard the relay click at startup or when driving indicating boost control. I called my friend again and he suggested checking to see whether or not a map was loaded on the XEDE. I connect my first laptop to the XEDE via the provided serial cable and downloaded the maps. From what I could tell there was nothing on the XEDE except a blank map. All the cells had nothing but 0.0 in them. The next step was to download the Stage 0+ 93-octane map for my car from the website. However, when I tried to upload the map I would get a memory error message referencing the XMAP2.exe. I tried numerous times with no success. I even reinstalled the XEDE program on the laptop with no success. I even tried another laptop to see if it would fix the problem but I still received the same error message and could not upload any maps. What I could not understand was why I could see the “live view” yet I could not upload.

I ended up taking the XEDE out of my car so that I would not damage anything. I’m going to have it reinstalled at Dyno4ormace this weekend and see if they can figure something out.

So, is my XEDE not working correctly or do I have a bum harness? When the XEDE was in my car the green light was on. Ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You had it right the first time. It is a little odd that it is idling so low though.

The errors you are getting are probably from using the old version of XMap. Go to the XEDE site and download the latest version. Once you get that you can download the new map into the XEDE.

The relay will click under high loads. This is normal.

Yep, you had it wrong the first time. You pulled out the idle control wire, not the boost control wire. Yep, i've seen that before

And yes, I'm guessing your XEDE was blank as most are unless you request a preloaded map. You'll need to download and install the newest version of XMAP (see sticky on this forum for the link) in order to use the basline map on the website. That should work for you.

If not, let us know...

Regards,
shiv

Well, when I placed my order I asked for the Stage 0+ 93 octane map. It was also wrtitten on the shipping box and on a sticker on the back of the XEDE so I assumed the map was on there. As far was the XMAP software goes I used the one off of the XEDE website for the EVO, I believe it was XMAP V2.0.0 beta. Sorry I should have said that in the first post.

Hey bro,
I once had trouble running the new xmap off my laptop. I thought because I had the new xmap that I could delete the old beta program. So, I re-downloaded the old xmap and opened it and THEN, for some reason, my new Xmap opened and ran properly. I have the old version in a zip file if you can't find it. Email me if you need it. Oh yeah, one more thing: Take a deep breath, this will all be over today and your car is gonna haul some ****.

Lambtron, are you slippin' bro?

I'm guessing the latest XMAP only works with the latest XEDE then. I'll let you guys know when I get it back in later tonight.

It works with the older XEDEs as well. It's just as the newer baseline maps (on the website) can only be viewed and uploaded/downloaded with the newest version of XMAP.

Is that why I was getting the error messages when trying to upload Becasue the XMAP ver 2.0.1.1 only works with the "new" maps on the Vishnu site? If so, I would remove or add the new XMAP version to the site because you have XMAP ver 2.0.0.0 beta on there for download.

XMAP 2.0.1.1 can be used with all the maps, old and new alike. But the new maps can only be opened up with XMAP 2.0.1.1

If you try to open up some of the newest maps with the older XMAP 2.0, it will throw an error code.
Make sense?

I thought the change was already made on the website but it's not. It should be rectified by later today.

Sorry for the confusion,

Shiv

Ok, got it working on my lunch break. The old XMAP v. 2.0.0.0 beta was the problem. Ver 2.0.1.1 fixed it as I was able to upload the map. Havent had a chance to really test the car, but it does feel alot more responsive in the lower rpms and the idle is much smoother.

Thanks for the help guys.
