the xede making my car go crazy?
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=77696
I was hitting fuel cut everywhere. Tried lowering to boost to about 1.2 bar all around (about 94.9%) and still having problems. Uninstalled the Xede and everything is fine again.
Shiv, i will call sometime in the next week to set up an appt for June when ill finally be able to make my way up there.
but a few questions in the meantime.
1) can i run boost with a manual boost controller instead of the Xede?
2) are there any disadvantages to me doing so?
3) is there anything special you have to do to run the Xede without using its boost control feature? b/c i tried pluggin in the xede without tapping the wire when i first got it, and it didn't work.
4) i want to upgrade the turbo. is it wise of me to come with a larger turbo installed, before the problem with my stage 1+ setup is diagnosed?
5) did you mention a while ago that when running a bigger turbo, it is recommended that we use a open element intake?
Thanks in advance, hope im not being too annoying just yet.

If boost pressures are unchanged and you still hit the boost cut, I'm guessing that the stock ECU is still controlling boost. This is caused by pulling the wrong wire from the ECU connector. Instead of boost, you probably pulled the other green or greenish wire

look at that folks, it only took Shiv 7 minutes to respond.
Anyhow, i will try that next time i get around to it.
Its just odd b/c it was working relatively normally for the longest time, i just wasn't making nearly the right amount of power.
And, as far as the wire is concerned, i am pretty sure that i installed in correctly, i took extra care in doublechekcing to make sure that i had the right wire.
Anyhow, if i don't have the time to play around with it before i bring it up to you guys, is it too much trouble just to have you guys install it again while i watch to make sure i didn't f-- up some how, before it goes on the dyno?

cool beans. thanks for the excellent service.
so . . . not to keep pestering you, but as far as the other questions . . . e.g. about the bigger turbo, the MBC, etc. . . any thoughts?

Sure... here goes:
Yep... no problem.
Only if you chose to run different boost pressures at different engine speeds which isn't uncommon when your fine tuning a turbo engine. With the XEDE, you can map boost as function of RPM. With an MBC, and most EBC for that matter, you can't.
There is nothing special you need to do to use an MBC or EBC with the XEDE. Just don't pull out the green boost wire.
It's really up to you. I suspect your problem is really easy to fix. Might just be a matter of dropping the boost maps down a little.
Only if you're trying to make upwards of 500bhp. Below that, the stock intake box/filter isn't much of a restriction.
Cheers,
