Safc
Safc
i was just browsing through dynoflash, buschurflash and turbotrix flash post. Is it important to use a SAFC when using a reflash? And wondering if its necessary to get bigger injectors or a SAFC when using a XEDE or reflash?another question is . My mods are turboback, k and n drop in , Greddy Type S bov, and 255 fuel pump. Just not sure which ECU tuning to go with. I see the EXEDE has alot more maps but i dont want cam gears and it seems the maps are tuned specifically for Vishnu products. Wondering if i should just go with a reflash or not. . My mods that i listed will stay like this for a longtime. i want 300 whp that is fine for a daily driver and i want to keep it reliable. Any help or info would be great. thanks
PS I did do a search LOL

If you want to tune your car yourself, you want an XEDE. Not a reflash. No need for an S-afc, boost controller, etc,. The XEDE does it all. I think the whole idea of running an AFC with a reflash is silly.

Based on what you said, it sounds like you just need a reflash.
The Vishnu through-the-mail reflashes are geared toward certain sets of mods, but you may be able to get away with the basic stage 0+ reflash since your set-up is relatively close to that. Only issues might be your BOV and K&N filter (I'll defer to Shiv on whether this would require something custom).
If you get a reflash, you don't need an S-AFC with it.
Folks typically use an S-AFC/boost controller together with a reflash when they want to jury-rig a secondary tune for higher octane fuel. It works but leaves a lot on the table, in particular the more precise control of timing, fuel, and boost that a reflash or full-featured piggyback can give.
If you think you'll run higher octane on occasion, and you want to be able to switch to a race tune, a XEDE would be more worthwhile than the reflash+boost controller+AFC route, and not much more expensive.
You definitely do not need new injectors at your level of mods.

Xflash is probably your best option, since it will do what you want and is the least expensive ... you won't need a boost controller with Xflash, since it already controls boost for you.
However, if you want to squeeze more power out of your setup and still have the flexibility to accomodate future mods, then the XEDE is probably your best bet. One of the nice things about the XEDE is that it allows you to switch between various maps (such as 91 Octane vs. 93 Octane, etc.). This comes in especially handy if you ever go on a road trip
Lastly, you could do what I did, and go for XEDE/XEDE flash combined with a custom tune from Shiv at a local dyno day.
Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by 300whp? Do you mean SAE corrected numbers off a DynoJet dyno, or ...?? Also, you won't need bigger injectors unless you're going to upgrade your turbo, and you also do not need an SAFC or boost controller with the XEDE.

NJ.also i looked at the site for the stage 0+ numbers. Anyone have a dyno sheet of the numbers. also how much hp will cam gears give u? and can u go with the HKS cam gears instead of the vishnu ones for running stage 1

I can only give you my stage 1 numbers SAE corrected and uncorrected. These were obtained on a DynoJet AWD dyno in Colorado on 91 Octane pump gas. Vishnu also has dyno sheets posted on their website (Dyno Dynamics dyno): http://www.vishnutuning.com/lancer_stage_zero_2.htm
Personally I'd go with the Vishnu cam gears, or cam gears like them (5 bolt, not the 3 bolt as found on the HKS cam gears).
Eric Lyublinsky is putting together a dyno day in NJ for August. Might wanna PM him.
