Cam gears with stock exhaust

Has anyone tried installing the cam gears with a stock exhaust system. Is the exhust something that needs to be changed before installing the gears?
Would there be a noticable Hp gain?

You can install the gears before the exhaust and set them to zero with the stock exhaust, then adjust them later accordingly for the stage you get with your new exhaust. They're not hard to adjust. To get the most out of cam gears the car should be tuned for them.

I would like to get some extra power without a loud exhaust. I was thinking the adj. cam gears would help increase power. I wouldnt want to put them on and set em to 0, because i would see no power gain. Do you think less back pressure is need for retared cam timing?

It's possible to gain some power with the gears, but I don't think the gains will be as much without the exhaust. The exhaust alone has shown to provide some gains. That in combination with gears would naturally provide more than just gears alone. Of course any setup is also dependant on tuning to reap the most out of it.

I did, but I never intended to leave it like that. It was just in the order in which I ordered my parts. Had I gotten the exhaust first, then that would have gone on first. I had the gears at zero and retarded with the stock exhaust and didn't notice much of a difference. It wasn't until I got the Xede/Xedeflash and tuned by Shiv did it wake up. I'm sure you can do it like you want, but to get the most out of it, it should be tuned on the dyno. Don't know if you're stuck on the stock exhaust, but there may be a few that are quiet enough for you.

I would pick something a little bit easier to install such as an exede, or get an Xflash for that first rush of power. Yes, the cam gears are pretty cheap; however, are you going to install these yourself or pay some shop to do it? That alone will be about 180 bucks from a good shop plus the cost of the gears. There are better and easier ways to make power.

Also, what your talking about will require a custom tune because there are no maps available for what you want. This would require a trip to Vishnu and some money for the dyno times. Good question but I would do something else...

We have a "stealth" kit on Shiv's silver evo right now. It consists of cams, cam gears,Evo 6 10.5cm housing, downpipe and hiflow cat. Making about the same power as a stage 1+ and he still has the stock catback on his car.

That's what I'm talking about. I'd like to keep my car stock appearing as much as possible and quiet.

With a downpipe and high flow cat mated to stock catback, would you run a subzero map or next map higher?

Sounds Perfect!

The stealth kit is exactly what im looking for!
Is this the same down pipe that vishnu already sells? What is the Evo 6 10.5cm housing for?

Some of our customers have opted for the "stage packages with the stealth back" however it does require replacing your DP and cat to a highflow unit. It is more restrictive than a full 3" exhaust but much quieter and much cheaper.
It is our sig DP and cat. the EVO 10.5 housing is going into full testing sunday or monday- this might be a good upgrade for stage 1 guys that dont want the hassle and noise of cams or for stage 1+ guys that want more power without the cost of a turbo upgrade. The housing if it makes the #s will be suprisingly cheap

What is the 10.5 housing? Is it a new housing for the turbo?

What about a BB conversion at the same time? Would that be possible? I think that's what I'd be looking to do after the 1+...
