Boosting over 22psi??

Shiv-team,

I've been loving the XFlash and looking forward to some more modding.

I've got a few questions however. What does the Sub-Zero do to the rpm, boost fuel cut? I noticed that my fuel cut out at 8krpms last night when racing it. I also bought the new HKS SuperFlow drop-in filter and my car seemed slower. I would've thought that my car would pick up a little more HP (with the airbox still in place) since the filter consists of the same design as the PowerFlow filters. I noticed that my boost would go to about 20.5psi and taper off a little. When I put my stock filter back in, I got 22.5psi!! What's going on that the XFlash is tuned to just the stock air filter? I've wasted a few bucks already trying to free up the intake and get a little more power - all to no avail.

Do a thread search. This topic has been covered. Stock air box works best from what I've read as it's made to work w/ MAF sensor and some of the aftermarket filters don't work as well.

He has the stock air box still, he's just using an HKS drop in filter. If the filter alone is causing the problem, this is a new one to me.

Something is a bit strange here. I am willing to bet that the testing method is a bit flawed. When talking it over with Dave and Shiv, we determined that there is no possible way the different filters could create a delta that large, unless the HKS is MASSIVELY restrictive (Which is highly unlikely). In any event, I would sugjest putting in the stock filter, as that is what your flash was tuned for.

The HKS drop in filter (green) will NOT net you any significant HP ... all it will do is lean out the AFR slightly. I have one installed on my Evo along with a Vishnu stage 1 ... results of the HKS filter on my Evo are:
- BOV is louder
- AFR is ~.5 leaner, which equates to <5whp and can be attributed pretty much to the leaner AFR

Did you modify your intake in any other way?

8000rpm?
You should've cut by then anyway, due to the rev limiter.

Nope. I put the stock filter back in. I'm not going to deal with anymore aftermarket filters, including K&N.

Thanks,
