Urgent!!!Will pay someone $100 to install XEDE
I have had nothing but headaches trying to install this XEDE unit. Part of it might be my fault. I cannot download the maps into the unit at all. All the hard work is primarily done. The bearing is taken out of the hose, the XEDE, I believe, is wired properly. I need someone that knows how to trouble shoot and download a map into this car. I have a check engine light on. The car is detecting knock. Please someone help me, and I will pay you in return.
I'll do it but you have to drive to Murrieta. If I can do it fast, I'll save you a little $. I have a code reader/eraser and have played with the maps enough to load and unload, etc.

I am located in Riverside County too, pretty damn close to Smogrunner. Either one of us can help you install the exede and load up some maps. Another option is to wait for the SoCal meet because it will be a lot closer to your pad.

PS. Re: downloading maps.... Try another laptop. 10 out of 10 times anyone has communication problem with their XEDE, it turns out to be a port configuration issue with the laptop, not the XEDE. If you try another laptop and it works, you can conclude that it is your laptop that needs to be reconfigured.

It'll tell you that your Com port is invalid even though it isn't and you won't be able to connect to your Xede properly. Old laptops with rs232 ports work great and only a couple brands of USB-serial adapters will work, the rest just frustrate you and make you spend more money on stuff that actually works, oh and PCMCIA-Serial also works great but more $$$.
Where are you located. If you're not too far I can maybe swing by(maybe even tonight) and see if my laptop will connect to your Xede to upload the map to at least get you running, if it's your laptop that's having difficulty connecting to the Xede.
