Hey folks. I just picked up a slightly used Xede. The updater says it was only run for 1 day and 9 hours. The boost restrictor pill was pretty easy to work out, imo, and we found the right wire by checking continuity between the green wire @ the boost solenoid and the green wire at the harness. Much easier than guessing. It's nice to have a friend that owns a shop and knows what he's doing He's a Hondata dealer and pretty well known in the Honda world.

The relay clicking kinda freaked me out, but it was obvious that I was getting more than stock power =) I'm impressed with how smooth it is. It is definately deceptively fast. The Xede is the only thing I've done to the car, other than change the camber bolts, and take out the clutch restrictor. I did turn the calipers brown while instructing @ Summit Point though... I was testing some brake pads for Cobalt Friction, a sponsor of mine from my Honda Challenge days.

Steve didn't get a chance to check out XMAP to see what he thinks of it, but the updater was very simple to use. We were done with the whole process in under 30 minutes. First time we've worked on an Evo really.

Can't wait to put on an exhaust and see what this thing'll really do

Awesome! So how did the Cobalt pads do? Were you testing a street/track setup? I've been hoping they'd come out with something for the Evo.

I boiled the stock fluid after 5 laps the first session out. Oops. After I got the pads bedded in, they were fantastic. Andie is still working on proper Evo sizing though. I was testing an application that just happens to fit these Brembo calipers. Not optimal, but I was able to go DEEP into the brake zones with utmost confidence.

In the meantime, DS3000's are probably our best bet. Pricey, but they work well. The only bad thing about them is that I can destroy a set in one weekend, at least on other cars. I doubt they'll wear much slower on this car.

FWIW you mentioned using the updater, you should be using the newest version of XMap, which gives you full features, whereas XUpdate is no longer needed thanks to the newer version of XMap. I believe there's a link to it here somewhere or it can be had from the xede website.

 

Hmm, thanks. I didn't realize XMAP would also load the maps. There are like 5 different versions of install docs floating around between the Vishnu and Xede sites.

I basically grabbed every file I could from Shiv's site and burned them on CD and we just dropped it all onto the laptop that Steve normally tunes from.
