But hey, as long as you're happy and Shiv is taking care of you it doesn't matter what I think.
If your reread his first post, you will see that he got 253 whp with the cams using the Dynoflash. He got 292 whp using the custom Xflash. So it appears that he has a net gain of 39 whp. See the quote below.

So prior to the dyno on saturday I added a fuel pump, 264 camshaft, cam gear and ams lmic pipe. My baseline run on a Dynojet reveal number as follow: 253 whp and 267 torque with 21psi .

Well the Dynoflash can't adjust automatically for the addition of cams and cam gears, and the same is true of all EMS's. Just as the Xflash was tuned specifically for the new mods, the Dynoflash (or emanage or S-AFC) needs to be reconfigured for the new mods. I would expect poor numbers if I put cams in my car and didn't re-tune.

Exactly what I was thinking. Who cares that the Xflash made more power. It better, it was tuned for the additional mods..the Dynoflash wasn't.

Thanks Shiv you made a believer out of me.
Hey guys,

Dont forget gashero even said that Al could have made more hp in a custom tune over the mail in dynoflash. Gashero's just commenting that he felt Shiv did a great job and that shiv knows his products. Please stop turning things into comparison debate.

I expected the same thing on my Evo ... I was running a Vishnu stage 1 (XEDE), using a 93 Octance map downloaded from their site .. then I added HKS 272 cams and figured I'd need quite a bit of re-tuning. However when I compare the two baseline dyno runs we did to the final run after Shiv's custom tune, there really wasn't that much difference. All he was able to squeeze out of the car was a smoother power/torque curve. I even asked him to push it, but all we succeeded in doing is getting the car to ping and the ECU to pull timing, so we went back to what we had on the previous run.

You guys or gals, I am not trying to turn this into a tuner debates, just that I am very happy with the result, I mean what other mods can produce around 40 whp for 400 bucks. I think it is the best bang for the buck. I also forgot to mention that the car is so freaking smooth now it jus pull steadily all the way to redline.

Shiv,

I am an engineer working at Tier 1 supplier that designs engine managment systems.

I curious to know how much power loss (percentage-wise) you can expect the EVO to have in a sustained spirited driving situation. You are right in that the stock ECU will compensate for environmental conditions, and exhibit knock control, but this comes at a price.

From your experience, do you know how much power loss an EVO can experience under sustained heavy driving? Or is the the power loss minimal?

Don't get me wrong, I am a "fan" of yours. After I get my EVO, I might just come to you for tuning...

Additionally, without knowing timing advance values, concluding that any specific AFR (within reason of course) is unsafe or safe is impossible.

Needless to say, we're still running an XFlash/XEDE combo on our race car because of the flexibility and safety margin that it affords. I'm reasonably confident that a stand-alone set-up wouldn't have been able to handle the wide range of altitudes, temps and driving conditions that we subjected the car to during One Lap of America with *serious* re-tuning between events.

gashero-- Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. Let me know if you need more help with your car
