Yep the STI feels faster but in the evo you look down at the speedo and your like woops doing twice the speed limit already

Nice write up .... but I feel the interior of the STi is worse, the (so called bucket) seats are worse than a regular WRX's during hard cornering. Pink emblems and a blue carpet are just horrible choices in color in my opinion.

I wanted an STI really bad. Really bad until I couldn't find one in TN, and when I happened to be in the Chicago area on business the Subbie dealer there that had 3 wouldn't let me test drive one. And I had CASH! They were like "we're not doing test drives on these until we've done the paper work first". Then I told him "you do realize that says Subaru, not Ferrari on the back there?" Not only that, but they were asking about 6K more for it than what the EVOs were going for. So I went "just to look" at the EVO, and bought it the same day. The dealer just gave me the keys, and said "Have fun" when I asked for a test drive. I'll have to say I was quite apprehensive about buying anything made by Mitsubishi because everything else they make is absolute sh|t. But when I drove it, I knew I had to have it! I'd say I like the way the STI looks, and all the extras you get. Plus from all that I hear, Subaru doesn't give you as much of a problem over warranty issues(BIG PLUS). But in the end, those looks just get you pulled over more, and get you more of the bad kind of attention. I think the EVO is less conspicuous. And all the frilly little buttons, user controlled diff, etc. is just more crap to break.

In the end I still hate Mitsubishi, but I’m at 10K miles and love my EVO! It's a strange thing, and I hope that the second part of that doesn’t change as time goes on.

see you can say I have an STi as my best friend bought one the same day I bought my EVO. I drove his Sti so many times and infact it was with me for over a week when he was out of town. It's a great car and it feels so fast even faster than the EVO on straight line but when we raced and we did it more than 20 times (we switched drivers and so on) the EVO would pass the STI till 80 mph about 1 car ahead and then the STi would catch up and pass the EVO till 130 about 1.5 up to 2 cars. Some times the EVO would win but it was not as often as the Sti however, I was lost why would the STi feels fast well I think the buddy is not as stiff as the EVO nor the suspension is so that makes it feels faster. The only thing that stopped me from buying an STi was the 2.5 engine because I wanted to mode the car and I had no idea if this engine would get support as the EVO and at least we all know the answer for that now.

That's gearing, Az3ar. The STi has a huge step from 4th-5th. Then the Evo has an even more gigantic one from its 4th to 5th at 113mph (7000rpm). You can hold it longer, but if you're close in power to a car, you're gonna get squashed if you upshift to fifth.

Yeah any shifts into fifth in the Evo = loss of boost and power for me. That overdrive gear will not win you many races against an equally whp equiped car. I found out that if I attempt to shift fast into fifth to hold a lil boost my synchros will grind. Just my experience.

well you guys want my turbo then because even when i switch to 5th now i still hold boost so high . my top speed is amazing which what our stock EVO lacked off. I mean you can see the speed jumping from 120 mph to 140 (amazing).

EvoAz3arpower, I am happy you are in love with all the extra power that your new turbo has given you. Now go out and get some #s that prove how powerful it is. Arn't you tired of bench racing. And don't use the clutch crutch as your cars clutch seemed to be holding up fine when you showed me how fast your car was with four fat A$$e$ in the car. Fwiw my car is not slow in fourth and fifth but those are the weakest link IMO.

EVO Internet Explorer. I am so happy for you but I will be going to the track this SAT I might take my EVO but you are a rich guy who can afford clutches and I am poor plus I really did not get my 3071 for drag racing I got it for track cus that what I like but anyways you will see my EVO out there. by the way my clutch is slipping as it was on the dyno and it started to slip it does hold fine for a bit before it gets too hot and then it slipps and if its cold it chatters lik hell. I will be getting my Twin clutch some time this year

I differ from you in that I thought the Sti had more rattles (worse fit and finish) and the shifter felt terrible. Still an awesome car. In fact, while driving it, I was thinking I wouldn't mind trading cars. But then I got back into my Evo. In the end, if I had to choose all over again, I'd still take the Evo without hesitation. The STi's engine is nice, but my Evo's engine (stock everything) will soon be better, and everything else about the Evo I think is already better.
I agree 100% here...i bought my Evo last week and drove 2 STi's the week before. I was sold on the STi until the dealer was unwilling to work with me on my trade-in (not to mention wanted stocker price for the car which was also $4000 over the sticker on the Evo). So I decided I would go look at an Evo...and I fell in love...the dealer worked with me on my trade and I bought it the same day....

After driving the Evo, I felt the STi's interior was lacking (esp. the seats)...and the clutch and shift assembly were VERY stiff and notchy (hate to drive it in the winter!!)...i think my Evo shifts SO much more smoothly than the STi...and the seats feel 100x's more comfortable...

In the end, despite the torquey motor of the Sti, I would take the Evo over it in a heartbeat...although i kinda wish i had gone with an RS

Althought I am not an EVO owner. I do have a few friends that are owners. I have been in both the STi and the EVO. and to be honest, i was not impressed with the STi's performance. the Evo holds u in the sit all the way to redline, the shifting is smooth and precise. the STi felt much slower, the tranny will break ur neck shifting gears, and it didnt feel as fast. ive seen modded STi's run very bad times at the track due to the poor stock fuel system that cant handle the upgrades. althought both cars have nice interiors, i felt cramped up in the back seat of the STi. after being in both cars, i will not purchase an STi

Az3ar what track you going to this weekend. And I agree drags are a bad habit that me and Smoggy happen to like. BTW Maybe you should of bought the clutch and then the turbo kit. Don't hate because I know that w/o a strong clutch more power is worthless. Your car is faster than mine but I believe experience and quick shifting can make up the difference.

oh yea, oh my god of course i wont be able to drag race like you. infact I am known back home to race on the streets but i wont be able to match you or smoggie when it comes to drag (atleast for some time) . Yea I should have got a clutch before the freaking turbo kit but what can I say. I talked to the wife and the clutch and rest of the parts will be on the car soon by Shiv. I might let you drag my car if i went to the track this weekend. I might be going tomorrow or on SAT. if i go on SAT i will have to leave by 9.00 pm as i have to go to a party . hey PM me your phone number so i can call you and we can meet up some place or even at the track. oh I am going to Fontana.

Oh and me dragging your car is not a good idea. smoggy does it on the stocker he would be a better canidate for that endeavor.
