SMC kit questions

well, did a cursory search and couldn't find anything readily. My question is this. I just received my SMC kit, which looks great BTW, and I'm about to install it. However the kit doesn't really have a failsafe feature (that I am aware of) and with the debate bein tossed around, I'd just like to have an added measure of protection. How have you folks either retrofit or modified your systems for a failsafe, both mechanical failure as well as electrical? I know there are kits out there that have some, but I'm just curious as to how those of you who either built your own or got kits w/o a failsafe have included this feature. Parts, where to get em, etc...I'm not goin to install it yet until I get a handle on some sort of backup in the rare event this pump fails or a clog develops.

BTW, I noticed there are no inline filters for the SMC kit and it seems that it would make sense to have something along those lines as well. I presume contaminants can possibly enter the system while filling, etc. Did any of you use a filter of some sort in your systems? A standard inline fuel filter?

Thanks for the tips...

The Hago nozzle that comes with the kit has a 120 mesh screen filter on it. Just remove it every once every oil change or so to clean it out and it'll be good as new.

Hi Aresix6: are you using a electronic boost controller or a MBC?

I have a wiring diagram roughly laidout the DDS3/EVO interface, please let me know if it makes sense - I donlt have a EVO - I think the EVO control valve is a standard on all evos?

Top avoid doubling post, I posted the circuit on the above thread rather than hijacking a SMC specific post.

hey all, I just got off the phone with SMC and as of right now there is an add on to their kit that they will be releasing in the next month or two. Due to the holidays it's been a little crazy over there. They've been doin some research and havin some of their tuners fiddle with it until they can get it all finalized. It looks to be priced below $150 for the retrofit kit from it sounded like but nothing was concrete as of yet. Just lettin you guys know. I am still interested in this DDS3 setup tho...

Anyone learn any news about the failsafe SMC addition?

My hallman mbc setup uses a high flow solenoid valve between the turbo nipple and the wastegate.

Ahh, forgot about a solinoid application, I guess it can bypass the mbc so air can get to actuator when commanded to do so.

Thanks.

I am selling my SMC kit. More hassel than it's worth IMO. had it about a year with no fail safe, still worried after reading horror stories, plus another $150 is not worth it. IDK but my experiences with SMC are sort of sketchy. They don't even have a legit website in my mind, plus the kit seemed pretty cheap. Also most sanctioning bodies are a little grey in the rule books when it comes to track events. NASA asked if I could install a rear firewall before tracking the car. I selling it and putting the money towards tires. Sorry for the thread highjack. A fail safe is a very very good idea, I just find it odd for it to be an after thought from the company and not a priority. My 2 cents.
