SMC Failsafe?

Anyone have any clue about this? When will it come out? How much? How will it tie into an existing SMC system?

I was on the phone with them about a week ago about this. It's basically comlpeted they are just havin gsome of their tuners fine tune it. It SHOULD be available in about a month or so and will easily retrofit into existing SMC kits. Not sure on the specifics of how it will function exactly, but it is slated to be priced under $150 for the retrofit, bu this isn't concrete as they have to sit down and figure out the exact amount...anyway, just passin on what I learned from the horses mouth...

Check out Snow Performance. They got a $99 flow sensor that will send 12vdc out to, another product of theirs, a WG solenoid - $39 when flow drops below 378ml/min. So for $140 you get a failsafe system for your alcohol kit.

It is a real simple setup too, as long as the flow meter doesn't interrupt solvent flow or psi and can withstand anhydrous MeOH, and furthermore have to ballpark adjust the flow rate of 378cc/min for H2O/alcohol respectively to anhydrous alcohols.

Their product seems reliable too - however they havent really been introduced to the Evo community yet.

I use a high flow solenoid valve made by mac valve between the turbo nipple and the WG. They are a "balanced poppet" design so response is the fastest i've seen solenoid valves. Also by virtue of their design, they dont stick - does not get stuck open or shut. Will bring info back from work and post it later.

0.30Cv - ~400mA

Turbosmart E-Boost uses the MAC 35series for their EBC.

I talked to smc 2 days ago they told me its will replace your current control box where you swap it out and pricing was going to be under 100 bucks. He said it was due to release in a month or so.

Yeah. I'll believe it when I see it. Steve has been saying that since I got my kit in November of 05. Its always "a few weeks away". BS!
