Water Injection????
Ok, I here everyone talkin about Alky/Water injection, i am thinkin about water injection for my ix, could anyone explain to me how water injection works, the cost and what kind of results to expect.
if your looking for a cheap route to go on injection i heard this but im not to sure so you might want to look it up.
Windsheild washer fluid is 54% methanol and the rest is water with color dye.
Srt-4 owners have tried it and i guess it works.
Id like to see someone on these forums do it.

water injection alone will not give you any power gains! but there are BIG advantages to using water injection. what the water actually does is slow the flame front in the combustion chamber down! what this means is you can run the engine hard on the same fuel and not get any det! effectively its like running on race gas but a lot cheaper!
the reason a lot of people are running alky is the alky helps reduce inlet temps and adds a little bit more octane to the mix aswell! these both help to reduce det even further letting you run the engine even harder!
the disadvantage to both water injection and alky injection is to get the most out of them you need to tune the car with them running! now this is fine while the tanks are full but when they are empty its another story! this, in my eyes is why water injection alone is better as you can carry a bottle of distiled water around in the car incase you do run out!
water injection alone is damn good stuff! take a look at what the WRC teams do and you can see! they run direct water injection into each cyclinder so they can modualte the water in each cylinder!

Also, water injection doesn't slow down the flame front. It simply delays the start of the combustion process with little effect on overall flame speeds. (The technical term is "Flame Development Angle".)

This image is interesting, but somewhat hard to understand out of context. Basically, they were under cruise conditions and testing an ionization feedback technique on controlling spark advance for use with Water Injection. The image shows the initial fixed spark advance values and the controlled feedback values as well as torque, manifold pressure, etc. When the WI is first turned on, there is a drop in torque concurrent with the deviation from MBT, but when the controller is turned on and allowed to maintain a proper PPP, the torque goes up above the initial values, showing a decrease in pumping losses for the engine!
