Getting alky on my ix in a week and was wondering if head studs are a necessity? I really dont like the idea of putting in head studs with out taking the head off to put a new head gasket in? Dyno #s would be nice to see also if anybody has alky on there ix.

 

not needed imo but to be on the safe side you can. I personally do not like breaking the factory seal on that.

i dont think its neccessary. it did drop my ET .5 though in the 1/4..

 

 

You should be around 350 to 370 whp

Just don't run real high boost (over 25psi) and you will be fine...

 

How much boost should the IX run with meth or alky? Im waiting upon the new release on the SMC V3 kit with failsafe opition.

 

I agree with CC although I personally would have an itch to do 28psi, but I'd wait for IX cam upgrades before I felt obligated to remove the head and have to replace the bolts.

 

I am running 100% meth on my evo ix. Heres my mods,
AMS FMIC
i/c pipes
272 exhaust cam
fuel pump
head studs
3' tbe with test pipe
meth injection
boost controller

With ams tune i put down 376 and 366 torque AT 28 PSI, i just ran my car last nite i ran 12.007 at 114.5 mph with a 1.7 60 ft with a slipping clutch

 

my brother an i both have the alchol kit.. i jsu got mine we are installing it this weekend... we got the Hyperdrive alky kit from Extreme Motorsports... with boost controller, intake, bov, intercooler piping, clutch, fly wheel, turbo back exhaust, with test pipe, ecu reflash and the alcky kit he makes 395whp and 454ft/lb and goes 11.83

 

I would - stretched mine @ 25 peak psi (given this is an VIII), which lead to a blown hg, thankly no warping. Hg are not too bad to replace, but warped heads are.
