Battery In Trunk Plus Meth Tank?

Is it safe to have a battery relocated to a trunk with a meth tank? I'm just thinking of what would happen with an accident or what not. I guess it wouldn't be worse than the regular gas tank, but what do you guys think?

Just secure everything really good and tight. If you really want make sure coat the meth tank wit ha flame retardent or something.

If you put the battery on one side(right) and tank on other, you should be fine.

First of all both have unrelated risks and one related hazzard. Especially if in poor repair - a battery emits H2 gas (remember hindinburg) and trunk mounted units need ventilation ducting.

The methanol reservoir is like anything else you put in the trunk - if it leaks then all you need is a spark (loose battery terminal!) the fumes will ignite the liquid so again the need for ventilation is required.

Worse case scenario:
-leaking methanol tank
-loose battery leads
-battery emitting Hydrogen gas

Get a fire extinguisher, hell, I need one too

Fire = oxygen + fuel + spark

oxygen - 21% of it in the atmosphere

fuel - methanol vapor

spark - from the brushes/commutator of your injection pump

If concentrations of fuel vapors is allowed to build, especially in the trunk of your car, seems to be a recipe for a fire.

Another thing that is often overlooked:

When methanol burns it is invisible. You can have a fire and not even see it until you see things visibly burning/charring. If you plan on setting up a meth system in the trunk with a larger tank, etc, it is a worthwile investment to look into a fire system for the car. Chances are you have some decent money invested into your modded car anyway, and this gives you some added protection in case the unmentionable happens.

this is true with a wet cell battery. dry cells, such as optima dont have that issue. mitsu recommnends them for our cars. you shouldnt have any issues, i dont and thats my setup. ill take pics if youd like.
