Cap:

Can you explain what you mean by "vented from under the cap"?

I've heard Richard L recommend venting tanks to outside the trunk when running 100% methanol. Is that something that you've considered?

Thanks

If you are looking for something quick. I have seen the 4 quart tanks on Ebay for $26.00 plus $10.00 shipping (buy it now). I can't tell what kind of venting the cap has if it does.

F.Y.I. 4 quarts = 1 gallon

With a VERY high methanol concentration, external venting is highly recommended, as well as a firewall between the trunk and the cabin if the tank is in the trunk.

Technically the trunk is considered the passenger compartment unless a firewall is in place between. A fuel cell with a firewall is the safest way to do things when you use a lot of methanol (methanol is considered a fuel when not cut with enough water to eliminate its volatility). A tech inspector at a track can fail you or at least bar you from racing if it is determined that you have an auxiliary fuel supply in the trunk without a firewall in place.

When you run a standard 50/50 or a heavy % of water mix, you should be fine with vented cap in a non firewalled trunk.

Hi Rich, what i meant by vent = allow air to go into the tanks when methanol is being pumped out. Prevents a partial vacuum in there that might cause sucktion problem.

I have not had problem of methanol fumes yet because the weather has been cold. When summer comes, the bottles definitely has to be vented outside - a bard fitting to a hose and at the end of the line, put a filter to prevent road dust from entering the tanks by putting an in-line filter at the end of the hose

www.mcmaster.com part #4795K22
Miniature High-Efficiency Inline Filter Nylon,
Barbed End Conn, for 1/4" & 3/8 ID, 1" Dia

vapor pressure of methanol vs temp
127.05 [mmHg] at 25.0 ºC
416.58 [mmHg] at 50.0 ºC
515.64 [mmHg] at 55.0 ºC
633.72 [mmHg] at 60.0 ºC
773.59 [mmHg] at 65.0 ºC

1 atm = 760mmHg

Also, leave the vent for fresh air to come into the cabin.

They should be available in the states for purchase within a couple of weeks. Shipments to the US are happening now. From the warehouse in the US they will be going to the distributors in the US, and US retailers will have them in stock ready to ship. If you would like send me an email and I will let you know when you can purchase: jackblalock(AT)gmail.com

Cost to the US buyer and flow capabilities. The Aquamist race pump is not something to be dismissed in the least......no other pump within a competing kit has been designed purposely for water injection like the Aquamist race pump but when it comes to some of the most important things that today's W/A user is looking for it's a no brainer to offer this kit with the Aquamist/Shurflo pump.

In other words an Aquamist 2D with a DDS3 can be purchased and the buyer will be happy with results but some users need more flow and some need this at a lower price then if the race pump was used. Aquamist is giving users the opportunity to have the best in W/A at a great price.
