I am happy that you wrote this post, I have been also waiting and waiting. This looks like an feasible and affordable alternative for those like us running the SMC.

Thanks bro! If I am not mistaking I have seen this failsafe module for around $99. I just don't remember where right now but where did you get yours?

They are 99 and then you need the wastegate upgrade which is 39.95 (its a solenoid that goes into your boost and actuator line to make you run wastegate pressure when the SI triggers it)...I am a dealer for snow performance, just waiting for my stuff to get process I guess...PM me when your ready...

Thnak you very much indeed.. I must confess that despite I knew of this modele a while ago(at least 6 months ago) I did not know it must be match with the adjustable boost switch. I thought the modeule came with an internal adjustable software of some kind.

Regardless, I think I might be buying two units for both cars very very soon. Again, I appreciate your willingness to help.

It was the only real failsafe that I could figure out that would work with the SMC kit. If I had it to do over I would have bought a different WI with an integrated failsafe, but since I already had the SMC kit, I worked with what I had. In the end it all worked out but I must admit it took me a long time to figure it out. The hobbs switch was the trick and it took me a while to realize that that was the key to making it work.

Good write up, but i still think SMC should come out w/an integrated failsafe system like the other injection kits have. Hopefully it's in the making, but until then the demand just isn't that high for the SMC kits.

Not quite. You still need a solenoid to cut boost and a hoobs switch. FWIW I have had 2 pumps fail while running this failsafe and it has saved my ***.

For the plumbing this is all you need, that plastic stuff scares me a little bit.

cfdfireman1 - Thanks for the post, let me know how install goes or if you have any questions.

The picture cfdfireman1 posted is of the IFS-20, same fail safe but adapted for the AN fittings. Not on the website yet but if you call we can make them up.

The new IFS has a different operating mode that makes it simple to use with the SMC or Coolingmist Varicool systems. All you do is connect it to its own +12V power source on the Red power wire. In this mode it behaves just like the Aquamist DDS systems.

With constant power the IFS will always output the 12v trigger signal which limits your boost or timing or map depending on how you use it. Once you have injection flow greater then the user adjustable set point the Trigger out put goes low allowing for higher boost. Just need to make sure your injection system starts at a boost pressure that is LOWER then your waste gate pressure.

So it allows two modes of operation depending how you wire it up
1) Keeps you in fail safe mode until you have enough injection flow, like DDS
2) Triggers fail safe if injection flow drops below a set point.

The unit also detects an overflow condition in the event a nozzle or hose comes loose.

You can read more about the IFS-10 here:

http://www.labontemotorsports.com/st...onitoring.html

The new unit also outputs an additional 0-5v signal proportional in to flow. This can be used for data logging or to display flow in real time on one of our Flow gauges (IFG-20 or IFG-30) or the VCS3G controller with Touch Screen Dash Display.

Best regards,

Dan
