methanol will oxidise aluminum and zinc(from brass fittings) and form a whitish precipitate of oxide/hydroxide at the bottom of the tank - keep those away from methanol tank
what do you think about a zinc anode bolted to the aluminum intake for corrosion protection? Has anyone tried it yet?

both the Zn and the Al has to be submerged in the medium for sacrificial anode cathodic protection to occur...almost have to Zn plate the Al intake

how about impressed current cathodic protection?

Hey Abner,

I would be very interested on a ***** shape water tank.. Could you find me one for cheap ? Just kidding man.

On a serious note, you went overboard with the quantity Abner, I am still using the one gallon with the number #7 nozzle and it last typically 3-5 gas tank and I am on full boost several times a day going back and forth to work.

Definately I totally agree with you about the determine factors of methanol/water/alcohol usage.

Carlos

If I used a 4 or 5 quart replacement tank for my snow stg. 2 kit, which specific one would I have to get? Also, does anyone know what other fittings, hoses, etc I would need to directly hook up to the pump? Thanks.

you want to get a tank that is tall and narrow...lessen the chance of liquid with sloshing around and air getting into pump intake

So for a 20 minute road course open track session, spraying an average amount of meth, how big of a tank would one need? Roughly.

Gonna answer my own question. Sorry. Hopefully someone finds it useful. I just looked at my logs and for Lime Rock park which takes about a minute ten for me to get around, I am WOT for 27 seconds. So for a 20 minute session that's about seven minutes of WOT. So based on the calculations in the posts above and with a medium sized meth nozzle (600) I am guessing I would need about 6 quarts at the minimum and 8 to be safe. Looks like the stock front washer tank isn't going to cut it unless I use a very small nozzle (like 400).

Also, just FYI, Snow performance has 4 gallons of 50/50 methanol mix for sale for $25 on their website, used to be $45. Seems like a decent deal.

you want to go bigger/more tanks rather than smaller nozzle

18 quarts setup:

mix your meth/water, 5 gal drum tech grade meth ~$30, distilled water from grocery

tap water has undesirable minerals that might clog up the orifice of nozzle, distilled water is better for this application

I use heavy water, from Norway, for its atomic energy potential.

not to mention this setup will give you a better weight distribution and aid in a bit less understeer

On here because I like reading the water/meth/alcohol injection forums. Great forum!

I saw several places listed in this thread on where to buy tanks, but where can I get those specific tanks?
