New DV / BOV Needed??

So I am preparing to run more boost on my 9 and I am wondering how much boost the stock 9 MR BOV will hold? If I am planning on running ~28 psi (peak), will I need to upgrade to something like the Forge RS BOV? Thanks

u should be good to about 25 psi with the stocker, if u run anymore i would roll with a forge dv, or a tial recirc

Chris, the metal mr dv held boost fine for me @26psig, i dont think it will have problem with 2 more lbs. The boost controller is where it needs work, get one of those with variable duty like the apexi avc-r that will lessen tapering

Yeah the IX metal BOV will hold boost up to about 25 psi
but only if it is crushed down. Usually anymore than that
will make it flutter a little bit.So for holding almost two bars of boost
I would upgrade the BOV with a recirculating type.

Later man

Also don't forget about replacing the head bolts with ARP studs and get a retune or kaboom!

let the headstuds alone - unless you are prepared to replace the head gasket too. One uncompressed, the HG is no good anymore. Me and a few did the 1 X 1 swap and all ended up with leaky mess

alky w/o a retune will not make a car go kaboom. It will just make it run rich as hell and loose power. Tuning leans it out to the correct afr to make good power.

many cars out there run with AFR lower than before alky injection...whats the point?

what will make the engine go kaboom is running alky w/o failsafe and injection ceases AFTER a tune - due to high AFR, EGT leading to detonation.

Agreed...I am not about to put on ARP studs unless the head is off and then and only then I will go with their pro line.
