I have just updated a wiring diagram for HFS-5 + MBC + MAC valve.

and if anyone is using the the MAC valve.. make sure you follow diagram that Richard L posted above (the updated one)... the diagram in the instructions that came with the kit.. is outdated (the MAC Valve part)

Just a quick question, does this system pressurise on ignition
and then the hsv controls flow?
i ask as i don't see a manifold with pressure switch and more
worrying if that is the case and you have installed the tank/pump
in the trunk then won't it take a long time for meth to actually
reach the jet on first use?

There is a small surge tank which pressurizes when the system turns on, the system then maintains pressure in the lines going all the way up to the High Speed Valve which sits in the engine bay. Once the system is triggered (by MAP or IDC) the vavle opens and the already pressurized meth needs only to travel a foot or so into the nozzles. It is the fastest reacting system on the market.

Check out some of the videos posted by slowcar or Richard L in the water injection section, they show how quickly the system reacts

i was sure technically it was fine, i just couldn't get my head round how the pump stops when the set line pressure is reached(125psi iirc)?

I believe the pump has custom made aquamist springs for the internal bypass-valves which allow the pressure to reach exactly 125psi.

i think we misunderstand each other,
does the pump run as soon as the car is turned on(engine not running)?
if so then there must be a system that stops the pressure building any higher than 125psi!
how is that achieved?

there are 2 kinds of shurflo pumps used for alcohol water injection
1 - demand switch type
2 - by-pass valve type

Type 1 is used by snow, coolingmist, labonte, aem......
-there is a square plastic box on the pump head, an on-demand switch which cycles the pump on/off when pressure is reached.

Type 2 is the bypass valve kind. afaik, only aquamist is using it. the pump stays on during the entire water injection event. 3 pressure regulating valve within the pump head maintains a almost rippleless line pressure.

Type 1 on right side
Type 2 on left side

the pump turns on for about 2 seconds when you turn the kit on. During this period of time the pump builds pressure to exactly 125psi thanks to the internal valves.

Is it still ok to use the Mac Valve if you have a V9 junction board? The reason I ask is because Richard L mentioned on another forum that Version 9 junction board supercedes the Mac Valve addition.

Richard, could you chime in as well. Thank you!

Great Sticky by the way!

Do you have a link to Richard's post? I can't say definitively as I am not intimately familiar with v9 board but I would be almost sure that the MAC valve works just fine with v9. From what I understand the v9 board has just a few simple tweaks. There is a chance that the wiring to the valve may need to be a little different with v9 board but I can't imagine that the valve is incompatible.

^ i belive you need the MACvalve if you have a MBC... if you have a GM 3port (BCS) you dont
