What fuel mods are needed to run meth?

I have a Evo IX. I am new and I have been researching, so if it has already been discussed, sorry. I plan on getting or already own the following: K&N Drop-in, walboro 255, tbe, licp, o2, ported mani, arp headstuds, tune. Do I need any other fuel mods or is the pump suffice? Any suggestions for other mods (non-fuel)? Thanks

I would get bigger injectors, but you don't have to. And you'll definatly want a good boost gauge and wideband air/fuel gauge.

Meth will work on stock fuel system...meth is actually its own fuel system so it really augments the stock system.

If you run more boost you will need more fuel, so just use more meth and you won't need fuel from the stock system.

Actually if you are gonna spray meth then it would reduce the requirement for more "regular" fuel.

No problems with daily driving on meth. Most systems are now progressive of some type so only spray when under boost or when you need it. A 50/50 mix should drop AFR by 1/2pt, so like what Ev0ikon said, would reduce your regular fuel requrements some.

I think Methanol is A++ and I daily drive with it as well at over 400awhp on stock turbo. Here are my thoughts:

Let me be very blunt for a moment ... I would NEVER run meth without the Zeitronix Wideband with the ZAV-T Zeitronix Audio/Visual Alarm & Safeguard trigger. This setup allows you to run an aggressive tune with the methanol, and never worry about a pump quitting, a broken line, an empty tank, or staring at your AFR like your life depends on it ... (Well, your engines life does!)

You can set "filters" that allow you to put in maximums and minimums.

i.e. If the car goes leaner then 11.9, or egt's reach _____

You can also make it more complex

i.e. If at over 80% throttle, the car goes leaner then 11.9 etc etc etc ...

You will get a visual warning (a bright red light) and a loud beep. The car will hit fuel cut and save your Evo's heart! It's an awesome piece when you are running meth daily. Mine starts to spray over 8psi and was tuned for 28psi on the street I believe ... It definitely makes daily driving with meth more enjoyable and manageable so if you DO decide to run meth, order up this wideband with the failsafe system and enjoy the newfound power!

I suggest the TTP Engineering Meth system and they are also a premium vendor of Zeitronix. When I did my homework with the methanol systems it seems as though TTP took the best of all of the current available parts and made a kit out of it. Highly suggested.

EDIT: I didn't even answer your original question LOL. I am running stock injectors with the 255 and have had no problems with fuel delivery on a TTP Tune with 400/430 on the last dyno appearance. Cheers.

Zach.

if you wanna use the meth to the fullest you will want upgrade your injectors. All you need is a pump and injectors. Fuel presure regulators and fuel rails are for the big power guys.

I agree with most of what everyone above says but I saw that you were thinking about arp headstuds, I would strongly suggest not doing them if you are doing the 1x1 method, most people end up creating an oil leak when doing so and I have yet to hear of a failure of stock head studs with your mods...just my .02

You really dont need to get upgraded injectors. (Unless you go big turbo)
Fuel pump yes... Depending on which system and what amount of meth your injecting, your duty cycle on your injectors should be below 90%.

I would also strongly suggest doing a 50/50 mixture. You "CAN" obtain more power and TQ with lower egt's and injector dutycycle than a 100% meth mixture. All depends on what kit and whos tuning.

Also for kit, dont go cheap get the best... Aquamist! You wouldnt buy a ebay rebuild motor from a unkown builder right? You would buy a Jackson, Buschur, AMS or any well know built motor proven to work. Aquamist has been doin this the longest had have the best kits bar none! There price proves to show its worth.

Good Luck

Just keep in consideration that more HP directly requires more fuel (with optimal tune). If pushing the tune for power using less than say 50% methanol/H2O then fuel supply might be a problem. You can either tune it for more concentrated methanol or tune it for an upgraded fuel system. The latter is more expensive and requires extensive mapping but may provide more solid results, even at higher methanol concentrations. But I don't know, I still use the stock injectors
