Bubbles in toobs

Hi Guys,

I noticed I was hitting failsafe the other day... Had a look in the boot and there are some SMALL bubbles in the PRE pump toobs.

Now I am assuming this is air being dragged INTO the mix along a poor seal or something?

I am NOT leaking meth out (AFAIK)..

I have tightened up the tank adapter + various connectors but am still getting them... if not moreso...

any ideas?

Cheers
D.

If the tubing is not all the way in the disc filter small bubbles can enter under vacuum. It sounds like it's further up the line though. See if the bubbles are starting at a particular location and troubleshoot from there.

ok so I have been monitoring it and I can't see any more bubbles...

must have just been the push-in adapters going into the tank adapters...

ok the bubbles are back..

i am wondering if its just the loose nature of the 90deg pushins...

are there any 6mm compression fitting 90degs available?

At least then I can rule that part out and then if its still a problem focus on the tank adapter part...

There are new swivel 90's that the compression fittings can screw into.

Thanks John,

Do you guys have a T piece as well?

So the swivel joint should NOT let any air in right? is it a loose joint or does it tighten up?

No "T" in the swivel configuration, just the above elbow. It will not let air in and it does still swivel when seated. I've rotated them with full running pressure in the lines and they were fine.

That "T" compression that I purchased from you is not swivel but it still works great.

That's the 4mm compression tee we have for the split for two jets. We now have 1 piece units.

ok so I found that one of my tank hoses was slightly too short - maybe 1mm or so... so I am thinking it might not have been seated properly in the push in 90deg adapter..

ive order some more 6mm hose (thanks Jon@HBSpeed again) so I will redo that asap and see if my bubbles goes away

So what I did (while waiting for the new hose to arrive) was to remove the left tank from the equation (I run two tanks side by side)

I then ran the 90degree 6mm adapter from the left tank on the right tank.

This piece had plenty of hose so all the connections should have been good.

I went for a drive and after many hard pulls (to flush out the bubbles) I still saw some fresh bubbles in that line.

So I have to conclude that the 90degree adapter is at fault.

I have another (the original one in the kit) so I will wait until I have a dry tank and try that one

Grrrr..

SO I had another bash at it today.

1) drained out the right hand tank (still using only 1 tank until I fix it)
2) disconnected the FCM from the 6mm tube
3) reassembled the tank adapter + 90degree pushin + filter.
4) filed up tank with water
5) tank adapter leaked so I tightened it up
6) ran the system on TST mode for like 1 min (in groups of 10 seconds) - keeping the tank full
7) noted 0 bubbles in the tubes
8) ran the tank down to about 1L of water left
9) filled up with 50/50 meth (including 1L of 100Meth for the 1L of water already in the tank)
10) ran the system on TST to flush out the 100Water out of the pressurised line - still no bubbles
11) rehooked up FCM
12) did a 2x short bursts of 2-4 seconds of TST to represurise the system

Right after this I found several BIG BUBBLES in the tube between the tank and the filter

Now the filter is HIGHER than tank adapter outlet, so bubbles CANT be coming from the filter side...

Before all of this I did a vacuum test on the 90degree pushin adapter to make sure it didn't allow air to enter past the seal... it was good.

So can air be getting sucked in around the tank adapter where it meets the tank???
