First of all it sucks you can't really post anywhere when being new to the site...


Sorry for another meth thread, but anyway I just picked up my Evo 9 (see mods in sig) and the meth kit wasn't working so I turned down the boost from 27psi to 25psi to be safe. I happened to look at the spark plugs and notice that they were fowled so I changed them. The meth kit works perfect now, but the car is running really rich. My question is how to I temporarily fix it without damaging the motor till I have money for a retune? With the gain nob turned to 7 I've done two pulls. The first was in 5th gear, the car sputtered and eventually spiked. The second was in 3rd gear, the car didn't sputter, but the afrs' dropped to 10.0 at 20psi so I let out of it instead of full pedal all the way to 25psi. I've read a ton of the what's good for AFRs threads for using meth, but how do you fix it on the go till a tune? Is doing these tests and running really rich bad for my car? Please help :-( So frustrated...Just want to be able to drive the car fully..

 

Is the meth kit progressive or all/nothing? I would check your car for boost leaks first. I was running 10's for afr for a little bit and it did not hurt anything. Make sure to change your oil frequently though. If your car was not tuned for the boost level you are running and your kit is all/nothing it will be rich. The kit unlike your injectors may not do partial flow. So while your injectors know you are recieving less airflow and to ease up; your meth kit is still dumping fuel.

 

The oil and spark plugs were changed as soon as I got it. With the way may car is acting it sounds like an all or nothing kit. It's made by Alky Control if that helps? I honestly haven't looked yet because I've had the car for 8 days. So I'm guessing turning down the gain doesn't do much and I probably just have to baby it until I can get a tune...blah!

 

Turn down the boost and disconnect the meth kit. Stay off WOT for starters until it's been retuned.
