Does E85 add more power? My evo is putting out 360 whp, stock everything except 255 walbro, megan exhaust, air intake, boost controller, and a test pipe. Any ideas what the power increase would be? Do i need anything else to convert it other than a tune?

 

even google would answer all those questions... u need to upgrade your fuel system and yes you will gain a substantial amount power

jesus, their is so much wrong with what you just posted. everything is stock except blah blah blah. does e85 add more power? seriously? do you know what e85 is? i agree with the above, SEARCH. google or hear. there are literally hundreds of threads on peoples corn setup and what needs to be done. put your flame suit on bc this question has been answered over and over again.

anyway, since I am still working and am stressed, i will be nice and give you a quick break down. then i suggest you delete this thread otherwise a mod will delete it for you.

- E85 is essentially cheap race gas. higher octane than pump, therefore you can run more boost and adjust your timing. Guess what that does? Yup, more power
- It burns cooler and resist detonation
- Cleans your engine from the inside out
- Bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump (255 wont cut it), and a tune is REQUIRED.

E85 is great, if you have it local to you it is a worth while upgrade that will add significant HP to your set up. You should also look at more upgrades (FMIC comes to mind at some point) and getting quality parts (Not Megan). hopefully this helps, and gl with your upgrades

 

Im not an idiot i race Formula BMW and SCCA but i dont know much about the evo with this setup and what not. Would 1200 cc Injectors and a dual 255 walbro fuel pump cut it?

On stock turbo a walbro 255 and 1000cc are sufficient.

 

I have my EVO for 5 years and still din't switch to e85 I guess is the way to go.

 

Sorry, but once you make the switch you'll be happy you did..and wonder why u didn't sooner.

 

I am very tempted to go e85. I have a walbro 255, and ID 1000cc injectors, arp studs, etc.... It is just really limited where I live, and the 1 gas station on my side of town is constantly running out. This is why I'm stuck at 22ish psi.

 

i been running e85 for 2 years now, car runs and drives great. you dont need to worry about detonation. but mpg is worse lol

 

when you say your mpg is worse how much are we talking? really considering making the change as everyone says it is well worth it.

Back to the OP I do believe most people say the "norm" switching from 93 to E85 and a good tune (most important part) will net you a good 30-40 whp so it's up to you to decide if that's enough.

 

I average about 17-18 mpg on e85. Just depends on how much I get on it during the week. If you are in boost alot, you can bet it will be significantly lower...
