Well I'm glad I moved away from cali, I recently bought a house in vegas. I never had problems here with the cops and my car is loud.

It's the way our society looks upon our cars. People associate cars with wings and graphics or whatnot with street racing due to all the movies and small films made about it.

Now take Harley riders. People are scared of Harley riders in general due to the way they are projected in the movies and perceived. Nobody, even cops, want to mess with Harley riders because of their tattoos and mean leather jackets. I think that's why they never get bothered about their exhausts, etc.

The way I see it, we as an import community, should just start kicking people a$$es whenever people complain about us and in 10 years or so, nobody will want to mess with us because they'll perceive us as "dangerous".

p.s. I know, most Harley riders are doctors, teachers, etc. But it's the way they look in movies and real life that make them "dangerous".

Guess you didn't see yesterday's Sunday LA times article about the cops busting Harley riders in Laguna Beach for noise violations.

Read the whole thing!

And remember - FTBC (failure to be cool) is not a crime!

i find this kind of ironic due to most mitsu dealerships are selling aftermarket products for evos and even base lancers, if we get pulled over and then harrassed for stuff we bought from the dealership i wonder how theyre going to react when i show up on their doorstep

because of the image, there is no real justification. it might be the impression that american cars are more expensive. meaning that there is more pull from them against harasment. or maybe its because the import image is a form of bigotry against non-white people. i drive a neon with a big wing, and loud exhaust from the factory, and when i get pulled over im treated like crap (worse then when pulled over in an american car) until they find out that im an educated white guy. then attitudes change real fast.

but really, i cant give you a straight answer, or one that makes logical sense

Do they really have to waste that much money to create a undercover unit and training to make a impact on speeding and street racing? I mean if they really want to make a impact all they need to do is THEIR JOB. I see cars speeding, myself included and what law enforcement that happens to be around just roll along. I figure they just don't want to hastle with pulling over etc.(at least not all the time)

As far as I know they have to do patrol's anyway. I mean I can go driving around randomly and come up on people racing. In all this BS that im saying i think maybe they just need equipment, more officers or encourage current officers to fully enforce the laws.
they can't get people to work as cops cuz people either don't want to be shot or labelled as a snitch. the FnF movies are the culprit here. everybody thinks they can drive & race a car. i see so many cars with 400whp & stock brakes wrapped around light poles. it is really out of hand over there & people in AZ better watch out cuz now they are taking cars there too & selling them. on the indian reservation, if they catch you, they keep your car for 3 months!!!!!! if you're gonna drive fast, you better have some topend power cuz all the highway patrol cruisers are geared to run flat out at 100mph+ all day long...

if you have ANY kind of spoiler, yank it OFF! make the MOST power you can on the stock exhaust! instead of covering your dash with gauges, get the Delta Dash or the new Blitz sbc-id! avoid bodykits of all kinds! if you lower your car, don't lower it more than an inch. keep window tint to state min! stay away from bright colors! get you a Valentine One radar detector, the Passport X50 w/ opt laser diffuser, or the new K40 kit!

all of this information was obtained from a cousin of mine who is on SWAT for the LAPD. THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! so if you fit the above scenario, either slow the hell down, or REMODIFY your car. this is not going away. CALI has also discovered that in Intaly, it is ILLEGAL to modify a car. they are trying to do that here in the US now...

That'll put one hell of a damper on aftermarket companies and shops. Wow! Is this a communist country? WTF?
