Exclamation Attn: Socal Evo Owners

So I'll be picking up my new IX from South Coast soon and I had a question for everyone who knows the southern cali freeway system. I'm getting it tinted and clear bra'd by Auto Recon before I drive back home in Irvine since it's pretty close to SCM. I was just curious which will be a better route to take home since I'll be leaving Irvine at around 4pm which I'm guessing will be traffic hell. Should I take the 405n to 5n or just take 5 all the way up? Which route would be less congested? thanks guys

I would really recommend leaving at least after 6pm.. Whichever freeway you take will be bad before that.

Any other input?? Would a sat. or sun. be better or worse? When does traffic get bad and when does it subside?

why you gonna go north?? Irvine is south of SCM. Also were the 405 and 5 meet is pretty much Irvine already, unless you plan on going north all the way through LA?
All highways are fucced at that time. As far as side streets I wouldn't know I'm in LA county

During the week (especially at rush hour), the 405 jams up at:

- Northbound near Huntington Beach
- Northbound near the 110
- Northbound near the 90
- Northbound near Westwood (Santa Monica exit)
- Northbound near the 101

Your best bet IS to take the 5 all the way back. The 405 is a roundabout at best. Do remember that the 5 narrows after you pass the 91. It will be packed and get worse once it merges with the 10 interchange. That'll persist til you hit the 14. After you pass Valencia, however, you should be a-okay.

Safe drive back to Reno.

More like:

During the week (especially at rush hour), the 405 jams up at:

- Entire Northbound 405.
- Entire Southbound 405.

thanks for the help. I figured I'll back track a little and take the 405s out of Irvine then get on 5. I'll probably be leaving Irvine at around 4pm when my car gets done. Hopefully it won't be that bad. I'm stilll trying to figure out if it would be easier to do it during the weekend rather than the week. Are the freeway's still packed on a sat. or sun. afternoon?

That's a pretty long drive. I've driven up to Sacramento and back many times
I got married in Reno too.

Weekend if possible, otherwise you're better off waiting it out until after 6:30pm.
