San Diego Evo's
That's cool. I plan on getting DSS Stage 5 axles (front and rear) for Andrea's Evo so we won't have to worry about that part of the drivetrain ever breaking.
I will look at modifying those as well. Do you know at what power level they generally give? I am sure that you could go drag race a 400awhp Evo without drivetrain parts if you are a good driver and know what to what out for. On my S2000, wheel hop is the greatest concern. I am sure the same applies to the Evo.
If you know what you're doing and know how to drive the transmission should last a long time at 400whp. I'm guessing around the 500whp+ mark is where you should start to worry. I don't have a definite answer because people blow their trannies at different power levels, even stock form. Andrew makes 560whp and his tranny is fine after several drag passes down the Q.
If you have a 05+ Evo, then wheel hop isn't the greatest concern as the 03-04 Evos. In those years, they had open t-cases and when you get wheel hop during a launch or heavily acceleration, there would be rapid torque switching from wheel to wheel causing the spider gears to just explode. This was remedied in the 05 and 06 Evos so it's not much of a concern as the previous models.
